We are looking for a Payroll Specialist to join a busy payroll team in North York, Ontario on a Contract position. This opportunity is well suited to someone who can manage high-volume Canadian payroll with precision while supporting related accounting activities. The successful candidate will bring solid knowledge of payroll compliance, handle employee payroll matters professionally, and contribute to accurate financial processing in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities:

- Administer end-to-end payroll processing for a large employee population using Dayforce, Ceridian, or a comparable payroll platform.
- Review earnings, deductions, and statutory withholdings to confirm each pay run is completed accurately and on schedule.
- Investigate payroll variances and complete required adjustments, corrections, and account reconciliations to resolve discrepancies.
- Prepare, issue, and maintain Records of Employment in accordance with applicable Canadian requirements.
- Address payroll-related questions from employees and field personnel, providing timely and clear follow-up on issues raised.
- Identify and troubleshoot payroll system or transaction issues and support resolution to minimize processing delays.
- Produce payroll reports and assist with balancing activities to support accurate record-keeping and financial oversight.
- Ensure payroll practices align with current legislation, remittance obligations, and other statutory requirements.
- Contribute to Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable tasks such as invoice review, posting, approval coordination, and payment tracking.
- Assist with payroll-related accounting entries and reconciliations to support overall financial accuracy.
- At least 3 years of experience managing full-cycle payroll, ideally in a high-volume Canadian environment.
- Demonstrated knowledge of Canadian payroll legislation, including statutory deductions, remittances,



and year-round compliance obligations.
- Hands-on experience with payroll systems such as Dayforce or Ceridian; familiarity with similar platforms is also valued.
- Working knowledge of benefits administration and payroll processes connected to employee deductions and employer contributions.
- Background in accounting support, including exposure to Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable activities.
- Proven ability to identify payroll errors, research root causes, and implement accurate corrections.
- Strong attention to detail with a consistent focus on confidentiality, accuracy, and deadlines.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills for interacting with employees, field teams, and internal stakeholders.
