Interim Controller / Finance Process Improvement Consultant

Location: London, ON

Work Model: 5 days in office, (possibly some remote flexibility after initial onsite period).

Duration: 3–6 months

Our client, a growing organization is seeking an Interim Controller / Finance Process Improvement Consultant to support and strengthen its finance function during an important stage of growth.

This chance is ideal for a hands-on finance leader who can step into an evolving workplace, and implement practical improvements without disrupting day-to-day operations.

Key Responsibilities

- Partner with the existing finance leadership team to strengthen overall departmental effectiveness
- Coach and support team members to improve technical capability, confidence, and consistency of execution
- Review current accounting workflows and introduce stronger, more efficient processes, controls, and documentation
- Assess the month-end close process and implement changes to shorten timelines and improve reliability
- Improve the finance team’s use of their newer ERP system, with a focus on process optimization
- Work across finance and operations to improve transaction flow, coding accuracy, and allocation of costs across jobs, contracts, or entities
- Enhance job costing, project-based reporting, and visibility into financial performance
- Support accounting and reporting activities across a multi-entity structure
- Help maintain continuity during ongoing audit and compliance activity, including support related to tax authority reviews




- Identify root causes of process inefficiencies and implement sustainable solutions that can be maintained by the internal team
- Build clearer procedures and documentation to support consistency, training, and future scalability
- Create additional capacity within the finance function so leadership can focus more on forward-looking priorities

Qualifications

- CPA designation preferred, open other designations and experience.
- Previous experience in a Controller, Finance Manager, or similar senior accounting leadership role
- Background in manufacturing, industrial, construction, or other project-based environments
- Solid understanding of month-end close, financial reporting, and process improvement
- Experience with job costing and accounting in environments where revenue and costs are tied to projects, contracts, or percentage-of-completion style work
- Experience in multi-entity accounting environments
- Hands-on experience with ERP’s, (Dynamics 365 Business Central is considered an asset).
- Demonstrated success improving finance processes, building documentation, and introducing more structure into growing teams
- Experience mentoring junior or developing accounting staff
- Solid communication skills and the ability to work effectively with finance, operations, and executive stakeholders
- Practical,



collaborative approach with the ability to balance technical accounting strength and process leadership
