THE POSITIONThe successful candidate will be based in either Calgary or Edmonton and will be an integral part of the Technical Services group, supporting existing facilities, integrating with commercial teams to develop new projects, and acting as the process lead during project execution. This role directly influences commercial viability, safety, operability, and efficiency across current assets and future developments. The individual will work within a multi‑disciplinary environment and will be responsible for collaborating effectively with internal teams and external contractors.RESPONSIBILITIESWork as a Pipeline Hydraulics Engineer to build and maintain all aspects of steady‑state and transient models for pipeline networks.Utilize pipeline and facility hydraulic models to perform steady‑state and transient analysis, and present interpretation of results.Prepare process hydraulics reports and calculation packages documenting results and recommendations.Train team members in the use and best practices of steady‑state and transient modelling software.Use operational data to forecast risks and assess impacts on pipeline systems.Oversee and ensure effective implementation of surge mitigation strategies and overpressure protection systems based on transient analysis.Ensure compliance with internal PPMP and quality‑control procedures;
propose improvements toworkflow and product accuracy.Support new project development and management of change (MOC)



for existing equipment and facilities.Identify and recommend improvements to pipeline operating strategies to optimize hydraulic control and capacity.Evaluate capacity impacts resulting from integrity assessments on existing pipeline systems.Oversee the design of pressure‑control and overpressure‑protection systems.Provide support for day‑to‑day troubleshooting of operational process issues.Participate in HAZOPs, PHAs, design reviews, and safety incident investigations.Build strong relationships with project stakeholders including operations, business development, regulatory, and project teams.QUALIFICATIONSEngineering degree in Mechanical, Process/Chemical, or equivalent specialization.Professional Engineer in good standing with APEGA.10+ years of relevant experience in pipelines/facilities in operations and/or engineering roles.Experience in an operations‑focused role with a midstream or pipeline operator is a strong asset.Minimum 5 years of experience developing and running hydraulic transient simulation models.Proficiency with DNV Synergi Pipeline Simulator (SPS) for transient modelling.Experience with Schlumberger Pipesim for steady‑state multiphase flow modelling.Familiarity with pressure‑control and overpressure‑protection system design and operation.Knowledge of industry best practices for pipeline operations in Canada and the U.S.Fundamental understanding of pipeline automation and SCADA systems.Solid analytical and problem‑solving skills.Ability to work effectively and collaboratively in a team environment.Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple competing priorities independently.Excellent verbal and written communication skills.Self‑motivated and able to work independently with internal teams and external engineering firms.#J-18808-Ljbffr
