This role is an 18-month maternity leave contract.The Director, Corporate Communications, leads strategic communications programs for a diverse portfolio of clients, helping clients build, protect, and strengthen their reputation with the audiences that matter most. The role requires expertise in corporate communications, media relations, executive visibility, stakeholder engagement, issues management, and strategic storytelling, along with a strong understanding of the Canadian business and media landscape.As a trusted senior advisor, the Director partners with executives and leadership teams to navigate complex communications challenges, develop impactful communications strategies, and deliver measurable results. Working across a range of sectors and issues, this individual plays a key role in helping clients communicate with clarity, build trust, and achieve their business objectives.A day in the life of a Talk Shop Director
Develop and execute strategic corporate communications programs that support business objectives and strengthen organizational reputationServe as a senior advisor to clients, providing counsel on communications strategy, stakeholder engagement, issues management, executive visibility, and reputation-building initiativesLead and oversee key client accounts, ensuring exceptional service, strategic thinking, and strong outcomesLead and mentor a high‑performing account teams, fostering growth, development, and accountabilityDevelop integrated communications plans that may include media relations, executive communications, thought leadership, internal communications, stakeholder engagement,



and digital communicationsOversee the development of high‑quality communications materials including written strategies, issues management plans, media pitches, news releases, key messages, executive speaking notes, op‑eds, briefing materials, and Q&A;’sSupport clients through periods of change, growth, transformation, or heightened public scrutinyBuild and maintain strong client relationships while identifying opportunities for growth and expanded mandatesSupport business development efforts, including proposal writing, strategic planning, and new business pitchesRepresent Talk Shop at industry events and cultivate relationships with media, industry stakeholders, and community partnersContribute to a strong company culture, embodying the Talk Shop values and serving as a role model for peers and junior team membersParticipate in leadership discussions that help shape the agency's future growth and successWhat you'll bring
8–10+ years of experience in communications, corporate affairs, public affairs, public relations, or related fields, either agency‑side or in‑houseProven experience developing and executing corporate communications strategies for organizations, brands,



or senior executivesStrong understanding of provincial political landscape, reputation management, stakeholder engagement, executive communications, media relations, and issues managementExperience advising senior leaders and executives on communications opportunities and challengesDemonstrated ability to manage complex client accounts and lead strategic communications initiativesStrong team leadership, delegation, coaching, and mentorship skillsExcellent writing, editing, and presentation skillsStrategic thinking, sound judgment, and robust problem‑solving abilitiesExceptional project management and organizational skillsA client‑service mindset and a passion for building trusted relationshipsNatural resource sector experience is welcome, but not requiredCompensation
Talk Shop offers a comprehensive compensation package that goes beyond base salary.
The salary for this role typically falls between $95,000 and $120,000 CAD annually
