Children’s Pastor

Napanee Evangel Temple is seeking a full time Children’s Pastor to join our ministry team. The role requires spiritual maturity, strong relational skills, and a passion for children and the local church.

The Children’s Pastor will provide spiritual leadership, administrative oversight, volunteer coordination, and hands-on Sunday morning support, working closely with the pastoral team. Key responsibilities include curriculum preparation, volunteer scheduling and training, parent communication, attendance tracking, special events, and Vacation Bible School/Summer Kids’ Ministry week planning.

The Children’s Pastor plays a key leadership role in shaping meaningful ministry experiences, supporting volunteers, and partnering with parents as we help children experience Jesus.

Position Title: Children's Pastor (babies to Grade 5)

Location: Evangel Temple, 320 Bridge Street West, Napanee, Ontario

Job Type: Full Time (40 hours per week)

Qualifications

- Demonstrated spiritual maturity and exemplary Christian character
- A passion for children, families, and the local church
- Strong relational, communication, and organizational skills
- Administrative competence and attention to detail
- Theological training, ministry related education, and/or ECE is preferred but not required
- Successful completion of Vulnerable Sector Police Check

Key Responsibilities

Weekly

- Prepare and review Sunday School lessons, materials, crafts, and media
- Equip our children’s ministry volunteer team




- Communicate with volunteers and parents as needed
- Track attendance and follow up with families
- Supervise nursery and playgroup leadership
- Lead, oversee, and support mid-week children’s programming
- Communicate with Cornerstone Christian Academy for classroom expectations
- Attend staff meetings

Sunday Mornings

- Ensure all children’s spaces and materials are ready
- Support volunteers and assist with check-in and attendance
- Welcome families and new children
- Be available to support children and volunteers as needed

Monthly

- Manage scheduling and curriculum distribution
- Communicate regularly with parents
- Submit leadership team reports
- Restock snacks and supplies

Yearly & Seasonal

- Create volunteer schedules for ET Kids night, Sunday School, and Nursery
- Recruit, train, and support volunteers including instructing with Plan to Protect or Abuse Prevention

Training

- Plan and execute special children’s and family events
- Vacation Bible School/Summer Kids Ministry
- Prepare the annual ministry report
- Coordinate children’s involvement in special services
- Review and renew curriculum
- Community outreach

As Needed

Maintain ministry supplies

Send encouragement and appreciation to parents and volunteers
