Demands, duties, qualifications

Job Summary
The Respiratory Therapist's responsibilities will include but are not limited to: airway management, mechanical ventilation, arrest and trauma response teams, patient transport, and pulmonary diagnostics for Adult, Pediatric and Neonatal populations.

This position will support virtual ERs at Category B sites including other on-site services as necessary, in the geographical region from Clarenville/Bonavista to and including the Burin Peninsula. This position will have a home base at the Dr. G.B Cross Memorial Hospital. The applicant will play a key role in planned Virtual ER to assist with airway management and other patient care needs as part of the rural health care team. This will require overnight stays at the various Category B sites (Bonavista, Burin) throughout the region.

When the applicant is not required to provide service to a Category B site, they will support Respiratory Therapy services at their home site.

This position will report to Division Manager,



Melissa Goodland and maintain accountability to the Professional Practice Consultant for Respiratory Therapy for professional integrity and practice issues.

The successful applicant will work on a 12-hour rotation schedule and on-call will be required. Accommodations and other travel expenses as per the collective Agreement will be provided when travelling to other sites.

Job Qualifications
Graduation from an accredited academic program in Respiratory Therapy is required.
Proof of current registration from the NL Council of Health Professionals is required.
A satisfactory record of work performance is required.
Conditions of employment include the use of a private vehicle.

The successful applicant must be willing to complete at the first available opportunity Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) and Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) in-house as determined by the employer.
