Sit Stay Sparkle Dog Walking

Canada

About Us

Sit Stay Sparkle is a growing pet care company providing dog walking, pet visits, boarding, daycare, and house sitting services in and around Mount Pleasant.

We're looking for a reliable, organized, and dog-savvy team member who wants more than just a dog walking job. This position is designed to develop into a key operational role within the company, helping support both our clients and our team of walkers.

We're not in a rush to hire. We're looking for the right person.

The Opportunity

This role will begin as a casual contractor position, allowing you to meet our team, clients, learn our systems, and gain hands-on experience with the day-to-day operations of the business.

Initially, most of your work will involve:

- Dog walking and pet care visits
- Covering team members during vacations, illness, and busy periods
- Meeting clients and learning their routines

Contractor compensation is paid per service, not hourly.

During this period, we can typically guarantee approximately 10–20 hours per week, although schedules may vary based on client demand.

Growth Path

Our goal is to transition the successful candidate into a permanent employee position.

As your responsibilities grow, additional duties may include:

- Social media management
- Client communication
- Schedule coordination & key handovers
- Supporting daily operations
- Acting as the primary point of contact for our walking team
- Managing day-to-day walker support and coverage
- Overseeing day-to-day operations while the business owner is away

Longer term, this role is intended to become a Lead Walker / Operations position with opportunities for increased responsibility and hours.

Expected employee hours:

- Approximately 20 hours per week initially
- Potential to grow to 30+ hours per week over time

Additional income opportunities through house sitting may also be available.

What a Typical Day Might Look Like

Every day is different, but a future Lead Walker/Admin day may look something like:

Morning – 30–60 Minutes of Administration

- Review emails and messages
- Check schedules and upcoming services
- Respond to team questions
- Review client updates and social media activity

Afternoon – 2–3 Hours of Pet Care Services

- Private dog walks and pet visits
- Group walks
- Last-minute coverage requests
- Ongoing communication with clients and team members

End of Day – 30–60 Minutes of Administration

- Administrative tasks
- Schedule updates and adjustments
- Client communication
- Planning and preparation for the following day

Some days may be mostly walking, while others may be primarily administrative. As the scheduler, you'll have considerable flexibility in shaping your workweek while ensuring client and team needs are met.

Who We're Looking For

You may be a great fit if you are:

- Experienced with dogs of all sizes and breeds
- Comfortable working independently
- Highly organized and dependable
- An excellent communicator
- Comfortable using technology and scheduling software
- Looking for long-term growth within a small business
- Able to balance both field work and administrative work
- Preferred candidates will have consistent weekday availability and be seeking a long-term position rather than temporary or seasonal work.

Experience with reactive dogs is considered a strong asset, though training can be provided for the right candidate.

Requirements

- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation required.
- Smartphone with available storage and data
- Ability to walk multiple hours per day in all weather conditions
- Ability to work independently and make sound decisions

- Professional, friendly, and client-focused attitude

Compensation

A typical pay progression may look like:

- Initial contractor onboarding period: approximately $900–$1,300 per month while learning clients, routes, and company systems
- Transition to employee: approximately $1,800–$2,500+ per month depending on hours worked to include administrative assistance.
- Established Lead Walker & Operations role: approximately $2,500–$3,000+ per month through increased hours, responsibilities, and leadership duties.

Employees receive 2 weeks paid vacation annually, plus the opportunity to request additional unpaid leave, subject to operational requirements.

Why This Role Is Different

The ideal candidate isn't just looking for more dog walks, they're interested in helping build and support a growing pet care business while receiving reliable income.

We're looking for someone who wants to become an significant part of a small business, learn the operational side of the industry, and eventually help lead a growing team.
