About the Role

K’ómoks First Nation is seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized Accounting Assistant to support the Finance Department with a wide range of accounting and payroll responsibilities.

Reporting to the Director of Finance, this position plays a key role in processing financial transactions, preparing reports, maintaining records, and assisting with audits, WCB filings, and employee payroll support.

What You’ll Do

- Maintain accurate financial records and reconcile banking files and reports
- Process accounts payable and monthly invoices for rent, utilities, etc.
- Assist with accounts receivables as needed
- Support financial audit preparation
- Track and reconcile monthly expenses and revenues
- Prepare bank deposits and credit card transactions
- Ensure compliance with financial policies, procedures, and the organization of Finance
- Take minutes for Financial Advisory Committee meetings
- Assist with various administrative and clerical financial tasks as needed

What You Bring

- Diploma or certificate in accounting or bookkeeping (preferred)
- 3+ years of direct accounting or bookkeeping experience
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (especially Excel and Word) and financial software (e.g.



Sage Intacct, etc.)
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Cultural sensitivity and awareness of First Nations governance and community dynamics
- Experience working in and with Indigenous communities is preferred

- Accounting: 5 years (required)
- Sage Intacct: 1 year (required)

Licence/Certification:

- Chartered Professional Accountant (preferred)
