About the Client:

We're seeking a compassionate overnight caregiver for an 86-year-old gentleman living in a retirement community in Guelph. He has been steadily declining over the past two years due to Parkinson's disease, diagnosed within the last year and a half. He experiences hallucinations, confusion, and significant back pain from a lumbar fracture sustained in a fall last September. Despite these challenges, he is a pleasant, non-aggressive individual who has beaten three cancers and remains cancer-free. He uses a walker or wheelchair for mobility and requires assistance with toileting and hygiene throughout the night. His wife, the primary caregiver, is exhausted from interrupted sleep and needs overnight support to rest and recharge.

Responsibilities:

- Provide overnight supervision and assistance from 9:00 PM to 7:00 AM
- Help the client get to the bathroom multiple times during the night
- Assist with toileting, hygiene, and personal care as needed
- Support with cleaning and changing if incontinence occurs
- Complete light housekeeping tasks such as laundry if sheets or clothing become soiled
- Provide memory prompts and gentle redirection due to cognitive changes
- Ensure the client's safety and comfort throughout the night
- Complete daily care logs documenting the night's activities and any concerns

What We're Looking For:

- Experience with mobility assistance using walkers or wheelchairs
- Comfortable providing personal care and toileting support
- Patient and calm demeanor, especially with clients experiencing confusion or hallucinations




- Ability to communicate clearly in English without heavy accents (client preference due to hearing and comprehension challenges)
- Reliable, consistent, and takes initiative when needed
- Respectful of the client's dignity and independence
- Experience with Parkinson's disease or similar conditions is a plus

Schedule:

Monday, Wednesday, and Friday nights from 9:00 PM to 7:00 AM (10 hours per shift). This is a consistent, ongoing position with the same caregiver each scheduled night. The family may request additional shifts based on caregiver availability.

Client prefers caregivers without heavy accents due to client's father-in-law's age and difficulty understanding. Pleasant demeanor, no aggression issues. May need help with incontinence management and sheet changes during night.
