As the Facility Operations Specialist (FOS), you will manage contracted work delivery, scheduled and on-demand work, operational project delivery and acting as the Facility Operations partner on larger, more complex Capital projects being delivered by others. As the FOS you will have specific facility/construction related field experience, you will act as the subject matter expert for contracted service delivery within your discipline, including completing technical design reviews, advising on maintenance strategies, inspecting work completed by external vendors, and working as part of a team of experts completing similar functions within their own respective fields. Target fields include electrical, heating ventilation and air conditioning/facility mechanical systems, structural and civil. Primary duties include:

- Represent Facilities on the projects being managed/delivered by others external to Facilities, including but not limited to project planning, procurement, and construction, building system lifecycle replacement, renovations, maintenance projects/programs.
- Provide subject matter expertise to the project team, design and specification review and comment,



represent the interests of facility operations and facility tenants, coordinate tenant communications, and assist with access.
- Deliver operational/maintenance projects and programs. This includes development of project scope, soliciting quotes, developing required procurement documentation, bid evaluation and selection, contractor oversight, quality assurance/quality control, budget management and project close-out which includes updating facility records, drawings, Operations and Maintenance (O&M;) documentation.
- Coordinate consultant services, both in design, reporting and commissioning.
- Administer, manage, and execute on the terms of standing contracts within your portfolio. This includes developing and completing a quality assurance/quality control program and records management.
- Participate in the development of assigned contracts including but not limited to scope and specification development, bid evaluation, contractor orientation and arranging for access.

Qualifications

- A Journeyperson Certificate in a facility or construction related field or equivalent recognized by Alberta Apprenticeship and Industry Training plus at least 10 years of experience in the design, operation and/or maintenance of facilities within their respective trade including project management OR;
- A completed 2 year Engineering Technology diploma in a facility or construction related field plus at least 7 years or experience in the design, operation and/or maintenance of facilities including project management.
- Experience developing maintenance projects related to technical building systems including but not limited to medium-voltage electrical systems, rope-access maintenance and construction,



leading commissioning of mechanical and electrical building systems.
- Experience in life safety system maintenance and building safety code regulations for high-rise facilities.
- Experience in facility operations maintenance project delivery, oversight of consultants and contractors.
- Ability to obtain a City of Calgary operator's permit.
- Experience writing and presenting business case reports is an asset.
- Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook is an asset.
- Success in this position requires maintenance project management, analytical thinking, problem-solving and organizational skills, along with the ability to collaborate and communicate effectively on technical and business issues with different groups and individuals.

Workstyle

- This position may be eligible to work from home for at least part of the time as one of several flexible work options available to City employees. These arrangements depend on the operational requirements of the role, employee suitability, and are subject to change based on operational needs and corporate direction.

Failure to pass a pre-employment drug test may prevent an applicant from being hired into any safety sensitive position for a period of up to twelve months.

- Compensation: Pay Grade 11 $46.21 - 61.78 per hour
- Hours of work: Standard 35 hour work week.
- Days of work: This position works a 5-day work week with 1 day off in a 3 week cycle.
