Basket Brigade Canada is a charitable organization committed to improving the quality of life of persons living by providing meals and other necessities of life. Reporting to the President & CEO, the Volunteer Fundraiser will play a role in supporting Basket Brigade Canada in fundraising to grow the donor base. This includes the identification, cultivation, solicitation of individual and corporate donors, and foundations. This role requires someone with solid relationship management skills and a passion for building relationships with the ultimate responsibility of raising funds for specific programs and needs of Basket Brigade Canada.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, monitor and evaluate a comprehensive fundraising plan and presentation.
- Conduct prospect research to identify new donors.
- Develop and implement a donor acknowledgement and recognition plan.
- Research and identify potential funding sources available to Basket Brigade Canada and its Branches, including individual and corporate donors, foundation and government grants.
Qualifications
- Preferred education in the not-for-profit industry.
- Related experience with fund development activities with a not-for-profit agency.
- Proven experience creating and implementing innovative,
proactive relationship-building strategies and tactics.
- Excellent problem-solving, priority-setting, analytical and organizational skills with an attention to detail.
- Excellent verbal, written and listening communication skills, including well-developed proposal-writing and presentation abilities.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills and keen sense of diplomacy, with the ability to build relationships with donors.
- Results-driven and client-focused, with the ability to follow through on commitments and adapt to change.
- Self-starter with the ability to work both independently and as a team player who will productively engage with others.
- Resourceful and creative, with the ability to think “outside the box”.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Social Media.
- Experience using research best practices, tools, search engines for prospect identification.
- Current knowledge of the food and poverty situation in Canada an asset.
