Work Term:

Part-Time Sessional (hours vary)

September - June

Compensation:

$21.00/hour

The Position:

Reporting to the Supervisor of Camp & Community Development and/or the Program Manager of Childcare & Community Development, Community Program Facilitators are responsible for planning and implementing recreational community-based programs for children and youth. The Community Program Facilitator may also have opportunities to plan/facilitate special event programming and birthday parties. Responsibilities

- Ensure the delivery of high-quality recreational programs that are aligned with the philosophy of SPC and meet the expectations of HIGH FIVE®

- Fully and enthusiastically participate in all activities, while being a positive role model and reflecting the values of the organization

- Recognize and celebrate the uniqueness of all children, and create an setting where participants will feel included and experience success

- Maintain a positive and professional approach and image with SPC colleagues, families, community members and partners

- Adhere to the program structure and guidelines as outlined, plan and facilitate programs, and access program resources and support from the supervisor and manager

- Ensure family inquiries and concerns are shared with supervisor and/or manager to ensure prompt follow up

- Attend and fully participate in all employee orientation, training and meetings as outlined

Qualifications, Education and Experience

- Minimum of 17 years old

- Post-Secondary enrolment in a relevant field is an asset (i.e. CYW, OCT, Recreation and Leisure, Recreation Leadership, Outdoor Education)

- Previous experience working with children in a recreational or camp setting is an asset

- Valid up to date Intermediate First Aid with CPR (previously Standard First Aid w/CPR) *prior to the start of contract

- Must be able to commit to the days/hour of the shift, and for the full duration of the program (programs are sessional)
