Position Summary

Working collaboratively with healthcare providers and support staff, Hand Physiotherapists at Group23 deliver specialized rehabilitative services for musculoskeletal hand and upper extremity conditions. This position is intended for a Registered Physiotherapist. There is an immediate caseload available within an established Hand Therapy program at the clinic. While Hand Therapy is a multidisciplinary field, this role is structured within a physiotherapy model of care and requires alignment with physiotherapy scope of practice and clinical service delivery.

Through patient-centered, multidisciplinary, and evidence-based care, this role supports patients in restoring function and returning to meaningful activities. Embodying the virtues of Humble, Hungry, and Smart (HHS), this role provides life-enhancing rehabilitation experiences for patients and their families.

Duties and Responsibilities

Patient Care

- Apply a comprehensive bio-psycho-social-spiritual approach (#RiseAbove).

- Assess injuries and develop individualized treatment plans.

- Assess and treat musculoskeletal conditions of the hand, wrist, elbow, and upper extremity, including post-operative cases.

- Design and fabricate basic static custom splints as clinically indicated.





- Deliver evidence-based interventions (exercise, manual therapy, modalities, IMS/acupuncture).

- Provide and document home exercise programs.

- Complete legal and insurance forms as required.

Clinical Practice

- Follow clinic protocols, safety, and regulatory standards.

- Ensure accurate and timely patient charting using our clinic EMR.

- Respond promptly to admin staff and leadership.

- Submit timesheets and personal info on schedule.

- Maintain organized, clean, and safe clinic spaces.

Collaboration and Development

- Build positive relationships and support colleagues.

- Participate in team meetings and communications.

- Collaborate within a multidisciplinary team for optimal outcomes.

- Support Hand Therapy growth through clinical excellence and initiatives.

- Participate in rounds, mentorship opportunities, and team initiatives to support ongoing learning and team integration.

Data

- Track and document patient progress in EHR.

- Monitor outcomes and adjust treatment plans as needed.

- Report insurance and legal documentation on time.

Continuous Improvement

- Complete annual education and licensing requirements.

- Stay updated on best practices in physiotherapy and sports medicine.

- Contribute to process improvements and uphold clinic standards.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)

Knowledge

- Knowledge of Group23’s mission, values, goals, and current programs/services.

- Expertise in privacy legislation, OHS, and IPAC policies relevant to healthcare and business operations.

- Exceptional verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills; adapts to various personality types.

- Creates a patient-centered environment, educating and motivating patients to engage in their healthcare journey.

Skills

- Strong attention to detail in capturing patient and treatment information to ensure a premium patient experience.

- Excellent patient health record keeping and effective use of electronic health record management systems (including Netcare).

- Proficient in troubleshooting and using office/clinical equipment, as well as Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word,



SharePoint, and Teams.

- Reliable adherence to assigned work schedules, completing daily tasks, patient charting, and follow-up administrative duties.

Qualifications

- Master’s degree in Physiotherapy (or equivalent) from an accredited program (Canadian equivalent).

- Certified Hand Therapist (CHT) designation or working toward certification

- Orthopedic training (AIM Level 2 Upper minimum)

- Licensed Physiotherapist registered and in good standing in Alberta.

- Clinical experience with musculoskeletal and sports medicine patients preferred.

- Experience with hand therapy / upper extremity caseloads

- Experience with custom splinting

- Experience treating orthopaedic or musculoskeletal conditions

- Robust foundational orthopaedic assessment and treatment skills

- IMS/Acupuncture training (on CPTA restricted activity roster) is an asset.

- Interest/experience working with athletes of any level.

- Proficiency with EHR systems and digital charting preferred; strong communication skills and cooperative mindset.

- Police Information Check required upon hire and as requested.
