The Opportunity

Altex Industries is seeking an experienced Field Safety Advisors to support a CNRL project from Mid August to Mid November. This field-based role is responsible for providing hands-on safety leadership, ensuring compliance with client and regulatory requirements, and supporting site leadership during maintenance and turnaround activities.

Key Responsibilities

- Provide day-to-day safety and support on a project based in CNRL
- Ensure compliance with CNRL safety standards, Alberta OHS legislation, and Altex safety policies
- Conduct site orientations, toolbox talks, and safety meetings
- Perform site inspections, hazard assessments, and field audits
- Support incident reporting, investigations, and corrective actions
- Coordinate and track safety documentation, permits, and training records
- Work closely with supervisors, forepersons, and crews to address safety concerns
- Act as a liaison between Altex, CNRL, and other contractors on safety matters
- Promote and reinforce a strong safety culture on site
- Robust ability to develop and maintain JAJs (Job and Job Safety Analyses)
- Support and oversee safety aspects of bundle pulling operations, including pre-task hazard assessments, lift planning, coordination with crane and rigging crews, and verification of controls prior to execution

What We’re Looking For

- Minimum 5-7 years of field safety experience in industrial, construction, or maintenance environments




- Previous experience working on CNRL sites is strongly preferred
- Demonstrated experience supporting bundle pulling operations in maintenance or turnaround environments
- Strong understanding of hazards associated with bundle pulling, including the mechanics of lifting operations, stored energy, pinch points, and coordination with multiple trades
- Solid understanding of JAJs (Job and Job Safety Analyses), with the ability to review, assess, and support safe work execution
- Robust Microsoft Word and Excel skills, including the ability to prepare, review, and maintain safety documentation, reports, and tracking logs
- Solid knowledge of Alberta OHS legislation and client-specific safety requirements
- Experience with incident investigations and safety reporting
- Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced field environment

Required Certifications

- CSTS / CSO (or equivalent)
- H2S Alive
- First Aid
- Valid driver’s license
- Additional CNRL or site-specific certifications are considered an asset

Work Conditions

- Field-based role with extended hours during maintenance and turnaround periods
- Camp will be provided
- Ability to work days, nights, weekends, and extended shifts as required

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $55.00 per hour
