General Laborer – Shipyard Operations

About Us

East River Shipyard and Lunenburg Shipyard are working shipyards serving commercial and recreational vessels throughout Nova Scotia. Our teams provide vessel services, maintenance, and operational support in a fast-paced marine workplace. We are currently seeking dependable and hardworking General Labourers to support day-to-day shipyard operations.

Position Overview

General Labourers assist the shipyard service team with a variety of physical and operational tasks to help ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, and on schedule. This position is well suited for individuals who enjoy hands-on work, working outdoors, and being part of a team environment.

Responsibilities

- Assist with general labour tasks throughout the marina and shipyard
- Support vessel service operations and shipyard activities
- Load and unload materials, tools, and equipment from trucks and vessels
- Transport materials and tools to and from work areas
- Maintain cleanliness of vessels, docks, piers, and work areas
- Sort and organize materials such as lumber, metals, and equipment
- Assist with yard maintenance and operational support tasks
- Maintain and store tools and equipment properly at the end of the workday
- Follow safety procedures and use required personal protective equipment (PPE)
- Perform other general duties as required to support shipyard operations

Qualifications

- Minimum high school diploma or equivalent




- Previous experience in marine services, shipyard work, construction, or general labour considered an asset
- Experience handling tools, equipment, or heavy materials is beneficial
- Ability to perform physically demanding work and lift materials as required
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team

- Good time management and organizational skills
- Ability to work safely and efficiently under deadlines
- Basic understanding of marine or shipyard operations is considered an assetWork Environment

- Equipment operation experience
- Fork lift certification
- Fall arrest certification please

* salary based on experience and qualifications

Pay: $18.00-$30.00 per hour
