Overview

We are seeking an experience Structural Steel Fitter. In this role, you will be responsible for assembling, fitting, welding and installing structural steel components with precision and efficiency. Your mechanical expertise, welding skills, and ability to interpret detailed blueprints will drive the successful completion of complex steel structures. Responsibilities

- Read and interpret detailed blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings to accurately assemble steel structures.
- Use hand tools, power tools, welding equipment (MIG and TIG), plasma cutters, and press brake machines to cut, shape, and join steel components.
- Perform rigging and crane operations to lift and position heavy steel sections safely.
- Measure materials with calipers and other precision tools to ensure accurate fitting according to specifications.
- Utilizing shears, power saws, cutting torches, and chipper knives to cut structural components as needed.
- Operate fabrication equipment, including overhead cranes, ironworkers, band saws, drills, grinders, and cutting equipment.
- Assemble structural elements using welding techniques while adhering to safety standards and quality controls.
- Conduct machining tasks as needed for component fabrication or adjustments.
- Maintain a clean work environment by organizing tools, inspecting materials, and following safety protocols throughout the manufacturing process.

Qualifications

- Ability to read and interpret structural steel shop drawings




- Proven experience in structural steel fabrication or construction environments with a strong understanding of steel assembly processes.
- Strong understanding of welding symbols and fabrication tolerances.
- Skilled in MIG and TIG welding with certification; ability to weld various types of steel is essential is an asset.
- Strong mechanical knowledge including the use of hand tools, power tools, calipers, schematics, and blueprint reading.
- Familiarity with plasma cutting equipment, press brake machines, and machining tools.
- Ability to operate cranes, forklifts, and other lifting equipment safely and efficiently.
- Knowledge of rigging techniques necessary for lifting heavy steel components into position.
- Basic math skills for measurements and calculations related to fabrication tasks.

Physical Requirements

- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs (23 kg).
- Ability to stand, bend, kneel, and work in a fabrication shop environment for extended periods.
- Comfortable working around heavy machinery and overhead lifting equipment.
- Must wear all required personal protective equipment (PPE).

Working Conditions

- Monday to Friday, day shift.
- Overtime pay after 44 hours/weekly
- Indoor fabrication shop environment.
- Competitive wages based on experience.
- Benefits available after the probationary period.

Pay: $25.00-$40.00 per hour

Experience:

- Welding: 1 year (preferred)
- Structural Steel Fitting: 1 year (preferred)

Licence/Certification:

- CWB Certification (preferred)
