Responsibilities
- Prepare a variety of sushi, sashimi, and other Japanese dishes with precision and artistry, ensuring consistency and quality in every plate
- Maintain strict adherence to food safety standards and proper sanitation practices throughout all stages of food handling and preparation
- Source fresh ingredients daily, including fish, rice, vegetables, and seaweed, ensuring optimal freshness and quality
- Assist with menu development by suggesting new sushi creations and seasonal specials that excite our guests’ palates
- Collaborate with kitchen staff to coordinate food prep times and ensure timely service during busy hours
- Keep the sushi station clean, organized, and well-stocked, including proper storage of ingredients and tools
- Follow all health regulations and company policies related to food handling, safety, and hygiene
Qualifications
- Proven experience working as a Sushi Chef or in a similar culinary role specializing in Japanese cuisine
- Solid knowledge of sushi preparation techniques, knife skills, and ingredient handling
- Experience working with children or in educational settings is a plus but not required; enthusiasm for sharing culinary knowledge is valued
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced workplace while maintaining attention to detail
- Excellent communication skills and a team-oriented attitude
- Basic understanding of classroom or instructional experience related to cooking or early childhood education is advantageous but not mandatory
- Certification or training in food safety or sanitation standards is preferred
