Location: Admiral

Title: Occupational Therapist - Part Time, two shifts each week

RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Formulate treatment plans for residents based on identified problems and goals
- Communicate treatment plans and provide the necessary instruction to staff
- Modify and revise treatment plans as required
- Chart and maintain progress notes
- Assist nursing and medical personnel, family and outside resources to meet resident’s needs.
- Recommend equipment that is required for therapeutic purposes to maximize resident comfort, independence and safety
- Provide functional feeding assessments
- Order and maintain therapeutic equipment by monitoring inventory and in-servicing recent equipment as needed




- Maintain confidentiality concerning residents, staff and organizational information and data
- Follow up on prescriptions from external occupational therapists when new residents are admitted
- Communicate with Red Cross re: ordering prescribed equipment and delivery and retrieval of equipment from Red Cross storage.

Qualifications:

- Clear criminal record and vulnerable sectors check
- Bachelor’s degree or diploma in occupational therapy
- Current licensing with the N.S. College of Occupational Therapists
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal in English
- Experience working with seniors is an asset
