About the Role

Our client is expanding its Quality Assurance and Quality Improvement team with a corporate role dedicated to resident assessment practice, dementia and complex-care documentation, and regulatory compliance across all it’s licensed Long-Term Care homes.

This is a system-wide position. You will work home by home to strengthen assessment quality and staff capability, then consolidate findings into a corporate view that supports licensing readiness, inspection preparedness, and continuous improvement. You will report to senior clinical and quality leadership and partner closely with each home’s Director of Care and interdisciplinary team.

What You’ll Do

At each home

- Audit admission and ongoing assessment practice to confirm all required assessments are completed accurately and within required timeframes, including comprehensive standardized assessment on admission and on the required ongoing schedule
- Verify that time-sensitive admission assessments — including skin integrity, lift and transfer, and falls risk — are completed within their required windows and reassessed as resident needs chang
- Support interdisciplinary teams in assessing residents who exhibit responsive behaviours, ensuring underlying causes are investigated and reflected in the plan of care
- Confirm assessment findings translate into individualized, current care plans and are addressed at care conferences
- Train, coach, and calibrate intake and care staff on standardized assessment tools, clinical documentation standards, and inter-rater consistency
- Review resident records for completeness, accuracy, timeliness, and appropriate retention
- Provide assessment data and trend analysis to each home’s quality committees, including wound care, pharmacy, and infection prevention

At the corporate level

- Maintain a system-wide view of assessment compliance and documentation quality across all homes, and report gaps and corrective actions to senior leadership




- Support inspection and licensing readiness at every site, including preparation, response, and follow-up on findings
- Ensure standardized assessment data is submitted accurately and on schedule to required external reporting systems
- Develop and track consistent quality indicators across sites covering assessment timeliness, care-plan linkage, documentation completeness, and reassessment following change in condition
- Reinforce staff understanding of mandatory reporting duties relating to resident safety and protection, and ensure assessment and care documentation supports those obligations
- Uphold resident privacy and information-management standards in all assessment, audit, and reporting activity, including safeguards against unauthorized collection, use, or disclosure of resident information
- Lead corrective-action planning with Directors of Care where facility-specific or system-wide gaps are identified
- Contribute to policy, procedure, and workflow development so assessment practice is consistent across the organization

What You Bring

Required

- Current registration in good standing as an RN with the applicable provincial nursing college (LPN, OT, or another regulated health professional with relevant scope will be considered)
- Minimum 3 years of long-term care experience
- Demonstrated experience completing comprehensive resident assessments using standardized instruments
- Working knowledge of long-term care regulatory, licensing, and documentation requirements
- Sound understanding of resident protection, mandatory reporting,



and health information privacy obligations in a licensed care setting
- Strong clinical judgment in dementia, delirium, and responsive behaviours
- Excellent written documentation and audit skills; comfort working across multiple electronic clinical record systems
- Proven ability to coach and train frontline staff
- Willingness and ability to travel regularly between facilities in NS; valid driver’s licence
- Clear criminal record check including vulnerable sector screening

Preferred

- Experience with interRAI LTCF assessment and associated external reporting
- Additional education or certification in gerontology, dementia care, or Gentle Persuasive Approaches
- Prior corporate, regional, or multi-site quality assurance experience
- Experience supporting licensing inspections, audits, or accreditation
