As the Talent Acquisition & Onboarding Specialist, you will provide Human Resources (HR) support through the full cycle recruitment of civilian employees for the Calgary Police Service (CPS) including introduction to CPS through onboarding. This position advises hiring managers on recruitment related matters through consultation on compensation and rewards; recruitment and selection; labour and employee relations. Primary duties include:
- Facilitate the recruitment and selection process, including preparing job postings, screening applicants, pre-employment testing, delegation of interview preparation, interviewing, screening of applicants, preparation of job offers and support the entire recruitment process.
- Provide consultation and guidance to hiring managers, Supervisors, and Leaders on the interpretation of CPS policies, programs and collective agreements in relation to recruitment policies.
- Identify Talent Acquisition & Onboarding issues through analysis and identification of relevant policies, agreements and legislation and recommend courses of action to management.
- Provide consultation and support to address human resource service delivery needs, including workforce planning, talent acquisition, change management, diversity and inclusion.
- Utilize multiple computer applications to research and analyze all HR related activities and provide reporting to HR Management and the Senior and Executive Leadership Teams.
- Consult, advise and provide support for recruitment, inquiries relating to compensation, employee and labour relations, non-selection grievance handling and human resource programs.
- Plan and conduct first day onboarding and facilitate new hire orientation sessions.
Qualifications
- A diploma in a related field (for example: Human Resources, Business Administration) and 5 years of related Human Resources experience OR; A degree and a minimum of 4 years of related Human Resources (HR) experience.
- Intermediate level using Microsoft Office including Word and Excel.
- Chartered Professional in Human Resources (CPHR) designation is considered an asset.
- Previous experience working in a law enforcement environment or working in a unionized environment interpreting collective agreements would be considered an asset.
- Working knowledge of PeopleSoft Human Capital Management (HCM), or an equivalent Human Resources Information System (HRIS) would be an asset.
- Experience writing job postings and interviewing would be considered an asset.

- An enhanced security clearance will be conducted.
- Successful applicants must provide proof of qualifications. Education obtained from out of country must have or be able to obtain, an Education Credential Assessment (ECA) for confirmation of equivalent credentials.

Compensation: Pay Grade 9 $41.49 - 55.51 per hour
Hours of work: Standard 35 hour work week.
Days of work: This position works a 5 day work week with 1 day off in a 3 week cycle.
