Major's Contracting Ltd. is actively seeking qualified Heavy Duty Equipment Mechanic Apprentices to start immediately. This is a full time permanent position located primarily in Deer Lake, NL.

The successful candidate must be currently enrolled in a recognized Heavy Equipment Technician apprenticeship program and actively working toward their Journeyperson/Red Seal certification. Relevant hands-on experience with heavy equipment maintenance and repairs is considered an asset.

Duties:

- Confer with the Maintenance Supervisor regarding all repairs and the extent of repairs required.

- Complete preventative maintenance inspections.

- Check or diagnose equipment to evaluate performance and to detect faults, breaks, or malfunctions.

- Test repaired equipment for proper performance and to ensure that repairs have been completed to acceptable standards.





- Assist in maintaining service records.

- Changing hydraulic hoses, fuelling, lubricating, and performing other routine maintenance work.

Schedule: The maintenance facility operates on a 2 week, alternating schedule. Week 1: 6 days on 1 day off. Week 2: 4 days on 3 days off. Overtime after 10 hours/day.

Wage follows the apprenticeship scale with Y1 making 60% of Journeyperson wage, to Y4 making 90%.

Pay: $24.00-$36.00 per hour
