Position Summary

The Assistant Coach of the Venom HC 16U AAA team is responsible for all on-ice and off-ice aspects of the program, including player development, team performance, staff management, and alignment with organizational standards. This role mirrors many responsibilities found at the Junior A level and requires strong communication with hockey operations leadership.

Key Responsibilities

Hockey Operations & Coaching

- Plan, lead, execute and help at all practices, games and team meetings
- Implement systems, structure, and style of play consistent with Venom HC’s hockey philosophy
- Prepare athletes for advancement to junior, collegiate, and higher-level opportunities
- Manage in-game decisions including line combinations, special teams, and bench leadership
- Conduct player evaluations and provide ongoing development feedback

Player Development & Culture

- Foster a professional, disciplined, and accountable team environment
- Serve as a mentor and role model, emphasizing character, leadership,



and work ethic
- Support players with recruitment guidance, exposure, and next-level placement
- Enforce team rules, codes of conduct, and organizational standards

Administration & Communication

- Report directly to the General Manager, President and Head Coach on team performance, player progress, and program needs
- Collaborate with hockey operations leadership on roster decisions and season planning
- Maintain professional communication with players, families, league officials, and organization representatives
- Represent Venom HC with professionalism at league events, showcases, and meetings

Qualifications

- Previous coaching experience at Rep, AAA, Junior, or equivalent high-performance levels
- Strong understanding of player development models and competitive hockey systems
- Proven leadership, communication, and organizational skills
- Ability to manage athletes in a high-expectation workplace
- Background check and SafeSport compliance required

Preferred Qualifications

- Junior hockey coaching or playing experience
- Demonstrated success developing players to junior or collegiate levels
- Experience working within a structured hockey operations department

Compensation

Compensation is competitive and commensurate with experience.

Job Types: Fixed term contract, Seasonal

Pay: $3,000.00 per year
