Sunset Electric Ltd. is a growing electrical contractor specializing in commercial, strata, multi-residential, and service work throughout Metro Vancouver.

We are seeking a motivated and experienced 3rd or 4th Year Electrical Apprentice to join our team. This position is ideal for an apprentice who has developed solid technical skills and is looking to gain more experience in commercial service, troubleshooting, maintenance, and small projects while working alongside experienced Journeyman Electricians.

The Opportunity This role reports directly to the Owner and experienced Journeyman Electricians.

As Sunset Electric continues to grow, we are looking for an apprentice who wants to build a long-term career with our company. The successful candidate will gain valuable experience in service work, troubleshooting, commercial electrical systems, and project installations while working toward Journeyman certification.

Responsibilities

- Assist with troubleshooting and diagnosing electrical systems up to 600V
- Install and maintain commercial electrical systems
- Assist with power distribution, lighting systems, motor controls, and control circuits
- Assist with commissioning and servicing Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs)
- Read and interpret single-line diagrams, schematics, and electrical drawings
- Install conduit, cable tray, wiring, lighting, panels, and electrical equipment
- Assist with EV charger installations, lighting upgrades,



service upgrades, and tenant improvement projects
- Complete service work and maintenance under the supervision of a Journeyman Electrician
- Complete accurate job documentation and service reports
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
- Follow all company safety policies and WorkSafeBC regulations
- Represent the company professionally when interacting with clients

Qualifications
- Registered 3rd or 4th Year Electrical Apprentice
- Experience working on commercial electrical projects
- Service and troubleshooting experience is considered a strong asset
- Basic understanding of motor controls and electrical theory
- Ability to read electrical drawings and schematics
- Working knowledge of the Canadian Electrical Code
- Valid BC Driver's License with a clean driving record
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team

We are looking for someone who wants to grow with the business and continue progressing toward becoming a Red Seal Journeyman Electrician.

Work will primarily involve commercial service, maintenance, troubleshooting, strata work, lighting upgrades, EV charger installations, tenant improvements, and occasional residential service work.
