Your Day-to-Day as a Millwright Actively participates in Drax safety culture through safety conversations, observations, training, and following established procedures.
Learns from qualified tradespeople and supports safe work practices while building technical knowledge and confidence. Maintains high housekeeping standards in the department with team involvement. Utilizes SDS for chemical safety training for all employees.
Completes required safety and apprenticeship-related training in a timely manner.
Technical
Assists with routine maintenance activities while learning how to uphold safety, quality, and environmental standards.
Supports qualified millwrights with inspections, repairs, installations, and troubleshooting of mechanical equipment. Shutdown and Strategic Capital Projects (15%): Assists with shutdowns and project work under supervision, with a focus on safe execution, quality workmanship, and learning from experienced team members.
Learning, Development, and Team Support (10%): Builds foundational millwright skills through hands‑on learning, coaching, and active participation in the apprenticeship program.
Registered First Year Millwright
Apprentice. Interest in working in an industrial environment; previous hands‑on, mechanical, or trades-related experience is considered an asset. Basic welding, fabrication, or shop experience is a plus but not required.
Willingness to learn about pellet manufacturing equipment, heavy industry operations, and maintenance best practices. Comfortable learning to use mobile equipment, tools, and work order systems safely and accurately. Valuable mechanical aptitude and a genuine interest in developing as a millwright.
