Overview
Location: Regina, Edmonton, Calgary or Toronto. Out of Scope, Permanent, Full-Time. This role offers hybrid work (home and in-office).
General Accountability: Responsible for contributing to the profitability, growth, design, development, analysis, and management of commercial lines insurance products for SGI CANADA and its regional operations. Conducts analysis of company, industry, and external data, industry and consumer trends, and gathers market knowledge from internal staff. Closes: July 26, 2026.
Responsibilities
- Product Performance Management: Assist with analysis, design, development and management of applicable insurance products across Canada to achieve profitability and growth. Analyze customer segments and product performance results by jurisdiction to determine profitability, size, growth opportunities, and loss concerns. Monitor regulatory changes in each jurisdiction and communicate changes to the Product Manager. Evaluate recent and emerging issues (industry, market, legislative, economic).
- Product Design and Policy Wordings and Product Changes Implementation: Assist with analysis of competitor and customer information to determine product initiatives, new/modified products required and how to appropriately segment the market. Initiate and lead system enhancements or new systems development required to administer the product.
- Internal and External Stakeholder Relationship Management: Coordinate with and advise the marketing department in developing market research surveys to adjust product or create new products to improve profitability. Liaise with Underwriting, Regional Management and Actuarial staff to ensure that underwriting practices and product pricing achieve an appropriate balance between profitability and growth. Liaise with the Claims department to identify service modifications that are more closely aligned to customer needs. Initiate, lead and/or contribute to projects involving applicable insurance products.
Identify training needs and develop plans accordingly (underwriters and brokers). Initiate interaction and collaboration with outside vendors and business consultants.
- Key Metrics Identification and Monitoring and Underwriting Budget Development: Monitor KPI reporting. Utilize Business Intelligence assets to assist with decision making and create a data-savvy culture within the product management group. Assess identified metrics and investigate and respond accordingly. Assist with the development of premium budgets. Provide input to development of budgeted loss ratios in collaboration with actuarial group. Monitor and investigate variances from budget.
- Product Pricing/Pricing Analysis/Segmentation/Rate Change Impact Analysis: Analyze and assess product experience. Recommend and advocate pricing changes to Product Manager. Forecasts impact of planned rate changes. Collaborate with pricing group to implement additional segmentation and pricing equity. Evaluate and measure implemented changes. Evaluate competitor pricing and recommend pricing adjustments accordingly.
- Product Strategy Development: Research, prepare, define and deliver on product strategies in conjunction with Product Manager. Identify, analyze and prioritize product initiatives. Recommend implementation of product initiatives to Product Manager.
- Leadership: Actively contribute to and support a culture of a high performing workforce. Participate in divisional succession plans, ensuring ongoing professional and career development and supports development in others.

- Corporate Management: Enable the success of programs and policies aligned with corporate, strategic and divisional strategies. Manage risk in area of authority. Ensure that Health, Safety and Emergency Management Policy is applied in area of responsibility.
Education and Experience
Four-year degree from an accredited post-secondary education institution in a relevant field of study such as Business Administration or Commerce, or Mathematics & Applied Science. Eight years’ experience comprised of four years leadership and four years’ experience in a senior technical insurance, statistical, actuarial or finance position.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of applicable insurance products, knowledge of the principles and practices of insurance, knowledge of the insurance market, knowledge of statistical models and their application, knowledge of project management methodologies, knowledge of organizational units and how they interact to support the corporation’s operations. Ability to analyze financial statements.
