We specialise in sourcing products our customers love but can’t find in Halifax!

Job Summary: As an Assistant Shop Manager, you will be the face of our specialty food and chocolate shop, providing knowledgeable, friendly, and efficient service to our customers. You will assist in creating a welcoming atmosphere, ensuring that customers find the products they need while introducing them to new and exciting gourmet items. Your passion for fine foods and commitment to customer satisfaction will contribute to the success of our shop.

In addition, you will manage important operational aspects of the business that help us run more efficiently.

Key Responsibilities include all of the Sales Associate responsibilities, plus:

Sales Performance Management: Familiarity with sales targets and makes recommendations on how to achieve them.

Customer Service: Takes more direct involvement in ensuring every team member is delivering the best customer services and making every customer visit an experience. Collates customer requests, manages customer lists, and participates in customer outreach. Escalates customer questions, concerns and complaints. Manages online orders, ensuring they are packaged promptly.

Staff Management: Active coaching and management of team members including identifying development opportunities. Assign tasks to team members (e.g. cleaning floors, garbage, dusting shelves). Training team members.



Scheduling of team. Contribute to staff performance evaluations.

Inventory Management: More proactive inventory management, ensuring we always have products available. Managing transfer orders. Tracking expiry dates and adding discounts on products as they get near/reach their expiration. Remove discounts when product are sold out. Decide what products are available for the Too Valuable To Go service. Provides recommendations on re-order list and works with management to prioritise.

Financial Management: Provides input on increasing profitability and reducing costs. Working with management on margin analysis.

Merchandising and Visual Presentation: Proactively ensuring that products are always displayed attractively. Prompts the effort to update seasonal or monthly gift boxes for the two shops. Works with management on product information cards. Ensures website has all products displayed, all products have descriptions, and featured products are always current and updated. Works with vendors to ensure Frabjous Delights always appears on their "Where to Find Us" page with our new addresses.

Compliance and Safety: Assist owners with any safety concerns or issues. Proactively ensures our safety compliance. Maintain best practices, policies and procedures including import and recall processes.

Strategic Planning and Business Development:



Proactive input to strategic planning and development of the business. Capturing customer feedback as input for customer profiling. We’re a small business and, as we grow, we envision positions becoming available in Event Management, Import/Export, Shipping and Receiving, Social Media Marketing, etc. If you have experience and an interest in any of these areas, your role could change. We’d like to encourage you to grow as we grow. Qualifications:

Previous retail or customer service experience.

Experience in gourmet food or a specialty retail environment would be a bonus.

Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Passion for gourmet food, cooking, and culinary arts.

Ability to commit to scheduled working hours (possibly on nights and weekends).

Flexibility supporting two different locations.

Basic math skills and familiarity with POS systems.

Ability to lift up to 20 kg and stand for extended periods.

Experience with Staff Management

Knowledge of local and international gourmet food products.

Experience in food handling or a food-related industry.

Certification in food safety or a willingness to obtain it. Benefits:
