Assistant Superintendent:

Position Description

The Assistant Superintendent will Lead and perform general carpentry work for maintenance, repairs and new construction and they will assist the superintendent to organize, administer and control project activities, under the direction and supervision of the General Superintendent or superintendent.

Here’s What You’ll be Responsible for:

Independently assess and complete a variety of carpentry activities; this could include repair of all basic carpentry elements, drywall, painting, suspended ceiling, steel stud framing, etc.

Accurately interpret plans and specifications to ensure compliance with the work being performed.

Assist the superintendent in Supervising and coordinating all construction activities.

Ensure project materials and workmanship meets project quality standards and design requirements.

Advise the superintendent of potential problems,



work interferences or schedule difficulties while assisting in circumventing/resolving such conflicts; anticipate and resolve project issues and schedule difficulties.

Attend Sub-Trade meetings and update meetings for clear communication.

Other duties as required.

What You’ll Bring to the Team:

Good verbal, written, communication and interpersonal skills.

Ability to diagnose, analyze and develop solutions to issues.

Ability to multitask and prioritize various tasks with conflicting deadlines and align them with the project schedules critical path.

Ability to lead and assess trade performance on the job through productivity tracking and clear communication. Ability to lead and run effective site meetings with consultants, trades, and internal employees.

Experience in a leading roll for construction projects with values grater than $100K.

Qualifications

Carpenter or equivalent construction experience.

Minimum 2 years’ progressive related experience as a foreman, lead hand or other supervisory roles.

Knowledge of the construction industry operations, construction specifications, building materials, methods and procedures.

Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (excel, word, outlook etc.)

In depth understanding of safety and environmental principles, ability to develop procedures with a clear understanding of the legislation.

Knowledge of local, provincial and federal workplace compliance regulations, ordinances and legislation.

Knowledge of Canadian Construction Documents committee Contracts.

Government of Canada reliability clearance or ability to obtain it.

Valid Driver’s license
