Duties
- Safely operate commercial trucks to transport freight over long or short distances, adhering to all traffic laws and safety regulations.
- Load and unload freight using forklifts and other heavy equipment, ensuring proper handling and secure placement.
- Inspect trucks regularly for mechanical issues, perform basic automotive repairs when necessary, and report any maintenance needs promptly.
- Verify shipment details, complete delivery documentation accurately, and maintain detailed logs of all transportation activities.
- Coordinate with dispatchers and warehouse personnel to plan routes efficiently and ensure timely deliveries.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections to guarantee vehicle safety and compliance with regulations.
- Assist in warehouse operations by operating forklifts for loading, unloading, and organizing freight within storage facilities.
Requirements
- Valid AZ commercial driver’s license (CDL) with a clean driving record.
- Proven experience in commercial driving, heavy equipment operation, and freight transportation.
- Ability to operate forklifts safely and efficiently; forklift certification is preferred.
- Knowledge of automotive repair basics to troubleshoot minor mechanical issues on the road or at the yard.
- Strong understanding of safety protocols related to heavy equipment operation and freight handling.
- Excellent communication skills for coordinating with team members and dispatchers.
- Physical ability to lift heavy objects, perform inspections, and work in various weather conditions.
