Title: Back-End Node.js Engineer

Location: Halifax, NS (Hybrid)

Duration: 24+ Months Position Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Back-End Node.js Engineer to design, develop, and optimize scalable backend services capable of handling large volumes of data and complex document processing workflows. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in Node.js, MongoDB, NoSQL and SQL databases, and experience building high-performance, data-intensive applications.

Experience with event-driven architectures using Kafka and/or Solace is a significant advantage. Key Responsibilities:

Design, develop, and maintain robust backend services and APIs using Node.js.

Build scalable solutions for high-volume data ingestion, processing, transformation, and storage.

Develop and optimize document processing pipelines for structured and unstructured data.

Design and implement productive data models across MongoDB, NoSQL, and SQL databases.

Ensure system performance, reliability, scalability, and security.





Create and maintain RESTful and event-driven services.

Optimize database queries, indexing strategies, and data access patterns.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Product, Architecture, DevOps, and QA.

Monitor production systems, troubleshoot issues, and implement performance improvements.

Participate in code reviews and promote engineering best practices.

Qualifications

Hands-on experience with Apache Kafka for event streaming and messaging.
