Museum Operations Division The Royal BC Museum, which includes BC Archives and IMAX® Victoria, is one of the oldest continually operating museums in Canada. A cultural centre of learning and research, it strives to broaden our understanding of British Columbia through collections, exhibits, outreach and community engagement. The museum celebrates the province’s diverse landscapes and the lives of the people who live here, enables research and knowledge sharing that advances our understanding of our world, and provides a energetic place for discussion and reflection.

IMAX® Victoria delivers educational and entertaining experiences that accompany the learning journey the museum offers.

The Royal BC Museum is located on the traditional territory of the Lekwungen peoples, known today as the Songhees and Xwsepsum Nations

Job Overview The Executive Director of Business Development and Marketing (ED BDM) provides vision and leadership for designing and implementing business development and marketing strategies for the Royal BC Museum. Reporting to the Vice President, Museum Operations and Executive Financial Officer, the position will be responsible for developing the RBCM’s comprehensive commercial revenue strategy, which ensures revenue-generating programs at the museum achieve or exceed revenue targets. In addition to achieving revenue targets, the position is responsible for ensuring revenue programs support the RBCM’s mandate and mission, including its commitment to reconciliation, accessibility, inclusion, and service to the people of BC.

The strategy also will include opportunities to generate commercial revenue at the RBCM's newest campus, the Provincial Archives, Research and Collections building, which opens in 2027.

The ED BDM works collaboratively with other senior leaders across the organization to ensure alignment and integration of the revenue and business development strategy with other resourcing and operational priorities at the museum.
