Capital Markets Risk and Finance Technology Consultant

Location: Toronto, ON

Onsite Flexibility: Hybrid — 1 day per week onsite, every Thursday

- Position Type: Contract
- Contract Duration: 6 months (with potential for extension)
- Pay Rate: C$100.00–C$110.00 / Hour (CAD)
- Shift / Schedule: 40 hours/week, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM, Monday to Friday

Job Summary As a Capital Markets Risk and Finance Technology Consultant , you'll bring deep expertise and strategic vision to shape the future of our technology landscape. You'll perform comprehensive technology assessments spanning current state analysis, future state design, and gap identification to guide critical decisions across Capital Markets, Treasury, and Risk Management.

You'll collaborate with senior stakeholders across these functions to align technology strategy with business objectives, while evaluating the applicability of emerging technologies, including Generative AI (Gen AI) , to solve complex challenges.

This is a high-visibility role where your insights will directly influence architecture decisions and long-term technology roadmaps.

The workplace is highly collaborative and Agile-based, with significant cross-functional interaction across Capital Markets, Treasury, Risk, and Technology teams. The successful candidate must be comfortable navigating multiple stakeholder groups, coordinating discussions, and working with a wide variety of business and technology partners.

Key Responsibilities

- Strategic Technology Assessment — Lead end-to-end technology assessments including current state analysis, future state visioning, gap analysis, and technology architecture reviews to inform enterprise-level decisions across Capital Markets, Treasury, and Risk Management.
- Stakeholder Engagement — Build and maintain trusted relationships with senior leaders and cross-functional teams across Capital Markets, Treasury, and Risk Management, facilitating alignment on technology strategy and priorities.
- Technology Architecture & Applicability — Evaluate and recommend technology solutions and architectural approaches,



assessing the applicability of emerging technologies — including Gen AI — to address complex business and risk challenges.
- Risk & Finance Technology Expertise — Apply deep knowledge of risk management, treasury, and finance systems to provide informed guidance on technology investments, platform modernization, and regulatory considerations.
- Roadmap Development — Establish and drive technology roadmaps that reflect business priorities, balancing short-term delivery needs with long-term strategic goals.
- Innovation & Continuous Improvement — Identify opportunities to leverage emerging technologies, including Gen AI, to enhance operational efficiency, risk visibility, and financial reporting capabilities.

Required Skills

- 15 years of experience in technology consulting or a related field, with a proven track record of leading complex, enterprise-scale technology assessments and delivering actionable recommendations.
- Deep domain expertise across risk management, treasury, and finance technology, with an understanding of the regulatory and operational nuances of Capital Markets environments — 10 years.
- Hands-on experience with QRM, WKFS, and Regnology — 5 years.
- Skilled communicator and influencer: comfortable engaging with senior stakeholders and translating complex technical concepts into clear, business-relevant insights that drive informed decision-making.
- Experience with or a strong understanding of Generative AI and its practical applications in financial services, with the ability to stay current on technology trends shaping the industry.
- Strategic thinker with the ability to influence future project direction and enterprise-level decisions.

Preferred Skills

- CIBC or banking background with related role experience.

Education Requirements

- Degree or diploma in Computer Science, Business, or a related field required.

Required Experience

- 15 years of experience in technology consulting or a related field.
- 10 years of hands-on experience across risk management, treasury, and finance technology within Capital Markets environments.
- 5 years of experience with QRM, WKFS, and Regnology.

Important Notes

- Candidates whose experience is primarily Program Management or Project Management focused rather than hands-on subject matter expertise will be disqualified.
- Interview process: 2–3 rounds with the manager and team members; one virtual (MS Teams) and one in-person.
