Certified Teacher

Beacon Heights ECS is a growing Early Childhood Services program dedicated to helping children reach their full potential through individualized education, early intervention, and collaborative support.

We serve preschool and kindergarten children, including those accessing Program Unit Funding (PUF) and Mild/Moderate supports. Through a multidisciplinary approach that brings together teachers, classroom support staff, speech-language pathologists, occupational therapists, behavioural consultants, and families, we create inclusive learning environments where children can thrive academically, socially, emotionally, and developmentally.

We are seeking a passionate and team-oriented Certified Teacher to join our team for the 2026–2027 school year. The successful candidate will lead a classroom team of Classroom Therapy Aides (CTAs) and Educational Assistants while working closely with families and interdisciplinary professionals to support student growth and achievement. Responsibilities

- Develop, implement, and monitor Individual Program Plans (IPPs) to support student growth and achievement.
- Plan and deliver engaging, developmentally appropriate programming aligned with Alberta Education ECS curriculum requirements.
- Create and maintain a safe, inclusive, and stimulating classroom environment that supports children's social, emotional, academic, and developmental growth.
- Supervise, mentor, and support Classroom Therapy Aides (CTAs) and Educational Assistants (EAs), fostering a positive and collaborative team culture.
- Collaborate with families, therapists, and other professionals to support student success and achieve individualized goals.
- Monitor student progress, maintain accurate documentation,



and prepare reports for families and stakeholders.
- Participate in parent-teacher conferences, team meetings, case conferences, and transition planning activities.
- Support children with self-help and personal care needs, including toileting and diapering as required.
- Coordinate and participate in classroom activities, special events, and field trips.
- Ensure compliance with Alberta Education requirements and applicable health, safety, and accreditation standards.

QualificationsRequired

- Bachelor of Education degree from a recognized post-secondary institution.
- Valid Alberta Interim or Permanent Professional Teaching Certificate.
- Strong organizational, interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Valid First Aid and CPR certification.
- Valid Alberta driver's licence and access to a reliable vehicle.
- Successful completion of a Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Search and Child Intervention Check.

Preferred

- Experience working with preschool and kindergarten-aged children.
- Experience supporting children with developmental delays, disabilities, behavioural challenges, or diverse learning needs.
- Knowledge of Individual Program Plans (IPPs), inclusive education practices, and early childhood development.
- Demonstrated leadership experience in a classroom or educational setting.

Teachers are supported through:

- Small classroom sizes with a diverse student population and support staff to ensure smooth classroom operations.
- Certified teaching/therapeutic assistants in each classroom
- Significant weekly prep and planning time, plus access to classroom and learning resources
- Collaborative, interdisciplinary team including Speech-Language Pathologists, Occupational Therapists, and Behavioural Specialists.
- Instructional hours that qualify toward permanent Alberta Teaching Certification.
