5-Ton City Pick-up & Delivery Driver

Job Duties

- Operate a Body job to complete pickup and delivery work in and around Grand Prairie, the Employee may operate a truck and trailer combination from time to time as required to meet the needs of the business

- Perform trip inspections on equipment operated and load, in compliance with regulations and policies. Check vehicles before driving them to ensure that mechanical, safety, and emergency equipment is in good working order.

- Comply with applicable legislation including protected operation, load securement, driver's hours of service, occupational health and safety, transportation of dangerous goods, and weights and dimensions

- Secure all loads/cargo in accordance with applicable acts and legislation

- Maneuver trucks into loading or unloading positions, following signals from loading crew as needed; check that vehicle position is correct and any special loading equipment is properly positioned.

- Report vehicle defects, accidents, traffic violations, or damage to the vehicles via Samsara

- Check all load-related documentation to ensure that it is complete and accurate.

- Operate equipment such as handheld devices (only when the vehicle is in park), CB radios, and telephones to exchange necessary information with bases, supervisors, or other drivers.

- Maintain logs of working hours and of vehicle service and repair status, following applicable Federal Hours of Service regulations using Samsara.





- Record and maintain required documentation

- Communicate effectively with the public, customers, and co-workers both verbally and in written form

- Assist in loading and unloading of trucks as needed while operating a forklift, power jack or with manual lifting

- Perform periodic inspections before, during, and after delivery to ensure that load is properly fastened down and is secure

- Deliver product and proper paperwork to our customers in a courteous and timely manner in Grand Prairie and surrounding areas

- Ensure that any debris caused by the loading/unloading of truck is cleaned up

- Provide feedback to supervision regarding customer problems, mechanical problems, or delivery problems

- May be required to perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

- High School Diploma, GED or equivalent considered an asset

- Class 5 or Class 1 driver's license

- 1 to 2 years commercial driving experience

- City P&D; experience preferred

- Computer Literate

- Forklift experience

- Ability to perform routine vehicle maintenance

- Strong oral and written communication abilities

- Use of timelines and time management techniques

- High level of personal integrity

- Strong work ethic

- Professional/mature demeanor under stressful situations

- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment

- Must be able to work with little supervision; must be self-directed

- Positive Attitude

- Ability to chain up
