Cat Lake First Nation Community Energy Champion (CEC) Employer: Cat Lake First Nation Economic Development Corporation Location: Dryden, ON with travel to Cat Lake First Nation Accountability: Reporting to the Director of Recent Business and Natural Resources Term: 3-Year Term-Contract Compensation: $90,000 - $105,000 per year POSITION SUMMARY We are seeking a dedicated and motivated Community Energy Champion (CEC) to lead our energy portfolio. The CEC position will be the primary driver of our local energy initiatives, including both renewable energy generation and energy efficiency, tasked with delivering sustainable pathways to enterprise for Cat Lake First Nation (CLFN). The successful candidate will be responsible for implementing our Community Energy Plan (CEP), increasing energy literacy among community members and staff, and identifying opportunities for energy cost reductions, decarbonization, and sustainability.

IMPACT OF THIS ROLE The successful CEC candidate will directly contribute to: Energy Security: Reducing reliance on external energy sources (and diesel, where applicable).

Cost Reductions: Lowering energy costs for the community and its members.

Future Growth: Linking current energy projects to long-term economic development and self-sufficiency goals through the Bioeconomy initiative, including identification of microgrid opportunities KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Project Leadership & Delivery Research: Conduct feasibility studies in the Renewable Energy sector for the benefit of the Nation.

Implement: Implement actions within the Cat Lake First Nation Bioeconomy Master Plan and Community Energy Plan.

Manage: Lead the execution of initiatives outlined in the Community Energy Plan, Deliver energy programs and ensuring activities are accessible and culturally grounded.

Support: Support participants through all stages of the Bioeconomy Project, managing intake, scheduling, and progress tracking.

Administer:



Maintain accurate program records, assist with funder milestone reporting and monitor project Key Performance Indicators TECHNICAL ANALYSIS & AUDITING Energy Auditing: Conduct walkthrough energy assessments of capital and residential properties to identify water or energy-saving opportunities.

Statistical Analysis: Perform analysis of energy data to support implementation.

COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT & OUTREACH Promotion: Promote the Energy Program through outreach and collaboration with other departments and partners.

Relationship Building: Maintain positive relationships with community members, leadership, and external stakeholders.

Workshops: Organize and host community meetings, workshops, and training sessions to present data and gather feedback.

SKILLS & COMPETENCIES Strong communication and relationship-building skills. Exceptional organizational skills and high attention to detail. Respectful, reliable, and able to maintain strict confidentiality. Problem-solving, adaptability, and multi-tasking abilities. Cultural awareness, mentoring skills, and professionalism.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Post-secondary education in the Renewable Energy Sector.

Background in energy, infrastructure, or a similar field. Demonstrated knowledge of planning, scheduling, budgeting, and basic finance. Strong background in customer service and proficiency with Microsoft Office.

Valid

Class “G” Driver’s License with access to a reliable vehicle. Current CPR/First Aid Certification. Willingness to travel in small planes and work occasional evenings/weekends. Knowledge of the CLFN organization and buildings.
