Schedule: 5 days weekly – flexible days, Daytime shifts (9am-5pm)
We are seeking a reliable and experienced Chef to prepare nutritious, well-balanced meals for guests at a community-based residential program operated in partnership with Turning Points Collaborative Society.
This role is ideal for someone who is comfortable working independently, managing their time effectively, and contributing positively to a supportive, people-centered environment. As our chef, you'll be responsible for planning and preparing large-scale meals while maintaining high standards of quality, food safety, and efficiency. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a mission-driven environment and understands the importance of consistency and reliability.
Responsibilities
Prepare and serve nutritious meals for program guests
Work independently to plan and execute meal preparation
Maintain food safety, cleanliness, and organization standards
Place food orders in accordance with budget
Follow menu guidelines, dietary needs, and portion control
Ensure proper food storage and safe kitchen practices
Maintain a respectful and professional presence on site
Requirements
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Reliable availability
Comfortable working in a homeless shelter workplace and committed to treating all residents with dignity, respect, and compassion
Valid FoodSafe certification
Valid BC driver’s licence
Must have the legal right to work in Canada
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in institutional, community, or high-volume food service
Strong time-management and organizational skills
Red Seal or Equivalent
Pay: Up to $25.00 per hour
