About the Role As a Construction Safety Officer (CSO) at TYBO, you are the frontline champion of our safety culture. This is not a passive desk job; you will be an active, visible leader across our dynamic civil infrastructure and heavy earthworks sites.

We are actively seeking dedicated and experienced Construction Safety Officers (CSOs) to oversee and enhance safety protocols across our construction sites. The CSO's fundamental role is to uphold TYBO’s stringent safety standards by meticulously monitoring the site-specific safety plan and ensuring full compliance with WorkSafeBC regulations. Beyond compliance, the CSO will proactively address any safety concerns that arise, build robust relationships in the field, and adeptly implement solutions that align with our steadfast commitment to safety.

Your work location might change from time to time as business needs arise; as we are actively hiring for our sites across the Lower Mainland. Site locations including but not limited to, Langley, Abbotsford, Vancouver, Coquitlam, Burnaby, Richmond, and Surrey.

Key Responsibilities

· Regulatory Compliance: Stay updated on occupational health and safety regulations, maintaining relevant certifications.

· Safety Tracking: Monitor and enhance safety by tracking issues, maintaining records of incidents, and suggesting improvements.

· Training & Mentorship: Conduct orientations, training, and safety coordination for workers and subcontractors, empowering crews to speak up for safety.

· Field Inspections: Perform safety inspections and hazard assessments, while providing guidance on tool and heavy equipment usage.

· Incident & Emergency Management: Lead emergency response, manage First Aid resources, investigate incidents, and collaborate on safety record management.

What You

Bring The ideal candidate for the Construction Safety Officer role is someone who knows how to build relationships and drive compliance through support and trust. You should also demonstrate the ability to adapt on the go and be able to work both in a fast-paced work environment as well as a sometimes slower one.

While 5+ years of safety experience is ideal,



we are highly supportive of candidates with fewer years of experience if you have foundational civil construction knowledge, a strong willingness to learn, and a proactive, "can-do" attitude.

Skills and Experience

· Experience: Five or more (5+) years of related safety experience is preferred, ideally within heavy civil infrastructure, earthworks, or concrete structural environments. Candidates with less experience but strong civil knowledge are encouraged to apply.

· First Aid: Compulsory Advanced First Aid Certification (Level 3).

· Certifications: CSO or National Construction Safety Officer (NCSO) designation is required. An OHS Diploma is considered a valuable asset. · Safety Training: Additional training and tickets are an asset, including but not limited to WHMIS, CSTS, Confined Space, Fall Protection, and Train the trainer training.

· Regulatory Knowledge: Thorough, up-to-date knowledge of all BC provincial legislation regarding Occupational Health and Safety and WorkSafeBC regulations.

· Soft Skills: Strong interpersonal and negotiation skills. You must be able to coach, facilitate, and influence a cultural and behavioral change in the workplace regarding safety.

· Analysis: A solid understanding of accident prevention, hazard mapping, and root-cause analysis.

· Mobility: Valid BC Class 5 driver’s license, a clean driving abstract, and a reliable vehicle to travel across our lower mainland sites. What's In It For You? Following the union rates of pay you would start at 33.50 per hour (32.00 + 1.50) with scheduled base increases.
