Knollcrest Lodge is seeking to hire a Casual Cook to help support Knollcrest’s Dietary Department. An option exists to pick up Dietary Aide hours in addition to the Part-Time Cook line.
We seek candidates who have a desire and passion for serving our people, and who have knowledge and understanding of Long Term Care Dietary Services.
As a member of the Knollcrest Food Services team, the Cook will follow established policies, procedures and standards. This position prepares and serves food for the residents, including the more complex meal preparation for the facility as required. As part of this dietary team, the Cook will ensure a focus on sound nutritional practices while following dietetic professional practice standards. The Cook is responsible for the production and service of high quality safe nutritious food.
Responsibilities include: Preparing food for residents in accordance with sanitation and safety regulations, the menu, and standardized recipes; assisting in the direction and training of staff involved with food preparation area and equipment; recommending changes to the menu, standardized recipes, and forecast from plate return and resident comments; documentation of substitutions made to menu in absence of Nutrition Manager.

Ideal candidates should have experience working as a Cook or Dietary Aide in a health care or Long Term Care setting; and who have successfully completed a Protected Food Handlers certificate or program.
