We are a small wine bar and bottle shop on Bloor West, serving a short menu of European-leaning small plates built to sit alongside the wine rather than compete with it. Nothing complicated, done properly.
The room is calm. We do not rush guests and we do not rush ourselves. Everything on the menu is prepped ahead so that service is finishing rather than scrambling.
The role
You will work evenings alongside the chef, who preps the menu from early afternoon. Through the busier part of the shift you will prep, plate, and keep dishes moving. After the rush, you will run the kitchen on your own.
That last part is the reason this job exists. The menu is short and everything is largely ready, but the food still has to go out properly and there is no one there to check it. We are looking for someone we can leave alone from nine o’clock.
What you will do
- Prep and plate alongside the chef through the busy part of service
- Keep the dish pit clear through service — shared with the floor team, but yours to make sure it does not back up
- Run the kitchen on your own for the final hours: plating to spec,
holding standards, and judging when a late order will not come out well
- Close the kitchen down — clean, wrap, store, and reset for the following day
What we are looking for
- Kitchen experience. You do not need to have run a section, but you should be comfortable plating to a spec with nobody watching.
- Food Handler Certification. This is required.
- Steady rather than quick. Our volume is manageable. Consistency matters more here than speed.
- Willingness to do dishes. It is part of the job, not beneath it.
- Reliability. Three evenings a week means a excellent deal rides on you turning up.
What we offer In addition to the hourly rate, the kitchen is included in the tip pool.
