Director of Childcare – West Kelowna & South Region Location: Kelowna, BC (regional travel required throughout the Okanagan) Director of Childcare – West Kelowna & South Region will provide strategic and operational leadership across an established portfolio of childcare programs while leading the successful opening, stabilization, and long-term sustainability of three new licensed childcare centres over the coming year. This leadership role is responsible for building strong, sustainable operations, developing high‑performing teams, fostering meaningful community partnerships, and ensuring the delivery of exceptional, high‑quality childcare programs that create lasting positive outcomes for children and families. Key Duties and Responsibilities - Provide strategic leadership for childcare operations, ensuring programmes align with the organisation’s vision, mission, strategic priorities, and regulatory requirements.

- Lead the planning, implementation, and continuous improvement of high‑quality, sustainable childcare programmes and services.
- Develop and maintain strong partnerships with municipalities, school districts, Indigenous communities, funders, and community organisations to enhance services and respond to community needs.
- Identify funding opportunities and lead grant applications, business cases, and programme development initiatives to support organisational growth.
- Oversee regional budgets, financial planning, forecasting, and resource allocation to ensure fiscal accountability and operational excellence.
- Lead, coach, and develop a high‑performing team, fostering employee engagement, accountability, professional growth, and a positive workplace culture.
- Ensure effective workforce planning, performance management, and compliance with Agency policies, licensing standards, and legislative requirements.
- Monitor programme outcomes, analyse performance data, and prepare reports to meet funder, contractual, and organisational accountability requirements.
- Represent the organisation on committees, working groups,



and community initiatives, advocating for children, families, and accessible, high‑quality childcare.
- Contribute as a member of the Leadership Team by supporting strategic planning, organisational priorities, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Qualifications - Demonstrated operational and administrative management experience, including financial management, strategic planning, organisational leadership, human resources, communication, programme administration, and knowledge of counselling and social services. These competencies are typically acquired through completion of a university degree in a discipline relevant to BGC Okanagan’s operations or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

- Three to five years of progressively responsible management experience, preferably within the community social services sector, with demonstrated expertise in childcare and community‑based programmes and services, applicable legislation, policies, and best practices.
- Experience managing community partnerships and stakeholder relations is required.
- Early Childhood Educator certification is an asset.
- Demonstrated experience leading and supporting early years and school‑age childcare programmes.
- Current knowledge of research, evidence‑informed practices, and emerging trends in child development.
- Knowledge of BC Childcare Licensing Regulations, and Provincial Childcare funding initiatives.
- Valid Class 5 driver’s licence with a clean abstract.

Hours: 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday; occasional evenings and weekends may be required.

Rate of Pay: $90,000 – $96,000 per year.
