Director of Finance
KIRAH Executive Search & Leadership Advisory has been exclusively retained by the Langley Animal Protection Society (LAPS) to lead the appointment of its next Director of Finance.
This is an outstanding opportunity for an experienced finance leader to join a respected, mission-driven organization dedicated to improving the lives of animals and supporting the communities it serves.
Reporting to the Executive Director, the Director of Finance will serve as the organization's senior financial leader and trusted advisor to both the Executive Director and the Board of Directors. The successful candidate will provide strategic financial leadership while overseeing the day-to-day finance function, ensuring strong governance, financial stewardship, compliance, and operational excellence.
About Langley Animal Protection Society The Langley Animal Protection Society (LAPS) is a growing nonprofit organization committed to compassionate animal welfare, responsible stewardship, and meaningful community impact.
Each year, LAPS provides care for hundreds of animals while delivering programs that support families and strengthen the relationship between people and their companion animals. The organization is supported by an engaged Board of Directors, an experienced Executive Director, dedicated employees, volunteers, donors, and community partners.
The Opportunity
This is both a strategic and hands-on leadership position.
The Director of Finance will:
- Serve as the principal financial advisor to the Executive Director and Board.
- Lead budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, and cash flow management.
- Oversee payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, compliance, audit preparation, and internal controls.
- Support organizational planning and long-term financial sustainability.
- Strengthen financial systems, reporting, governance, and operational processes.
- Identify risks, recommend improvements, and support sound organizational decision-making.
This role is ideal for a leader who enjoys combining strategic thinking with operational execution in a collaborative environment. What Success Looks Like The successful candidate will:
- Build trusted relationships with the Executive Director and Board.
- Strengthen financial reporting and organizational visibility.
- Improve financial processes and internal controls.
- Enhance budgeting, forecasting, and long-term planning.
- Contribute to organizational sustainability and responsible financial stewardship.
The Ideal Candidate The successful candidate will bring:
- Post-secondary education in accounting, finance, business, or a related discipline.
- CPA designation is preferred but not required.
- Seven to ten years of progressive finance leadership experience.
- Experience leading or independently managing a broad finance function.
- Strong financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, payroll, compliance, audit, and internal control experience.
- Experience supporting executive leadership, Boards, or senior decision-makers.
- Experience within a nonprofit, charitable, public sector, or other mission-driven organization is considered an asset.
- Experience with Sage 50 or comparable accounting systems is an asset.

Compensation & Benefits
- Salary: $90,000 – $110,000
- Four weeks' vacation
