Director, Operational ResilienceThe Director is a team leader within the Financial Crimes Unit, responsible for maintaining and maturing BMO’s Operational Resilience Program. The role works closely with stakeholders across first and second lines to ensure the business can continue to operate effectively during incidents and meet relevant operational resilience targets. The Director also manages reporting capabilities, guidelines, controls, and compliance monitoring against internal frameworks.

Key ResponsibilitiesLead and develop the Operational Resilience Program, managing reporting, guidelines, and compliance with internal standards.

Own and produce OpRes CBPS analytics and reporting, including vulnerability assessments and regulatory compliance status.

Create reports using Power BI and senior‑level PowerPoint slide decks.

Ensure operating groups understand and execute their operational resilience responsibilities with appropriate guidance and data.

Develop and present governance program status to internal and external stakeholder audiences.

Monitor remediation of control deficiencies and conduct risk assessments.





Core Experience / Skills7–10 years of people‑leadership experience.

At least 7 years in an operational risk environment, with expertise in non‑financial risk and resilience regulations.

Deep knowledge of cyber security, fraud, business continuity, incident and crisis management, disaster recovery, technology resilience, and supplier/vendor management.

5+ years overseeing operational non‑financial risk across multiple jurisdictions.

Experience in second‑line of defence for operational risk.

Preferred experience in the financial industry and cross‑country resilience program tailoring.

Familiarity with stress and scenario testing to validate resilience assumptions.

Advance certification in CCSA, CISA, CA, CCSP, ISC, BCI, ITIL, or similar is an advantage.

Advanced/Expert level Power BI and PowerPoint skills.

Strong data analytics, Microsoft Excel proficiency, and excellent organisational and prioritisation capabilities.

Demonstrated leadership behaviours aligned with BMO Values and Ambition 2030.

Superior presentation, communication, critical‑thinking, and problem‑solving skills.

Serve as a trusted advisor to senior leaders for business decisions.

Provide and maintain comprehensive information management systems and reporting tools.

Coordinate regulatory reporting, audit interfaces, and external stakeholder relationships.

Develop and sustain governance meetings and oversight frameworks.

Assess and adapt operational programs, ensuring continuous improvement.

Manage risk data insights, providing recommendations on risk impacts and mitigation strategies.

Foster internal networks and collaborate across teams to achieve business outcomes.

QualificationsTypically 9+ years of relevant experience and a post‑secondary degree in a related field or equivalent combination.

Expert knowledge of operational risk management practices and regulatory requirements.

Expertise in quantitative techniques, economic capital methodologies, and risk policy frameworks.

Experience leading and influencing cross‑group collaboration.

Expert verbal and written communication, analytical, and problem‑solving skills.

Ability to manage ambiguity and make data‑driven decisions.

Robust influence and collaboration skills with a focus on cross‑group cooperation.

Salary$121,600.00 – $211,800.00 (annual base). Includes potential commission structure and benefits such as health insurance, tuition reimbursement, accident and life insurance, and retirement plans.
