The Law Society of Ontario is seeking a Discipline Counsel to join its litigation team, ensuring the integrity of regulatory proceedings. This role offers a blend of policy development and case management duties.
As a permanent position, this role requires professionals with an LLB or JD and a solid foundation in litigation, preferably with over five years of experience. You will prepare for hearings, represent the Society in various judicial settings, and initiate improvements in regulatory processes. Candidates with experience in skilled regulation will be prioritized.
Key Responsibilities:
• Develop comprehensive strategies for regulatory hearings • Represent the Law Society in appeals and other reviews • Maintain compliance with strategic performance metrics • Provide critical advice on case matters to investigators • Engage in policy recommendation and development activities
Requirements: • LLB or JD and class L1 license required • Minimum 5 years of litigation experience preferred • Demonstrated advocacy and negotiation skills essential • Experience in regulatory settings is a plus • Strong multitasking and organizational skills expected
