Good Stewards — Documentary Videographer

Good Stewards is looking for a documentary-style videographer to follow the founders and team, capture real moments as they happen, and deliver organized, edit-ready footage.

The Role

This is not a studio gig. You're a fly on the wall. You follow the Good Stewards team through their real work - property walkthroughs and site visits, tenant and homeowner conversations, renovation and maintenance work, team meetings, and podcast recordings.

You capture what happens without making anyone uncomfortable. You don't direct the story - you document it as it unfolds. After the moment passes, you know when to step in and ask the questions that fill the gaps and turn footage into a story.

You work independently, show up prepared, and leave with organized footage on the drive.

What You'll Do

On shoot days

- Shadow the founders and team with a run-and-gun setup — camera, lenses, mic, minimal footprint
- Capture B-roll at properties, job sites, offices, and event venues without disrupting the environment
- Film discreetly in occupied homes and public spaces
- Record conversations and meetings as they happen (fly-on-the-wall style)
- After key moments, do short on-camera check-ins to capture context and reactions
- Adapt fast — adjust settings, switch lenses, reposition without missing the moment

Podcast / studio

- Set up and tear down podcast filming gear (multi-cam, lighting,



mics, backdrop)
- Frame shots, set levels, monitor audio, manage multi-camera recording

After the shoot

- Offload, organize, and label all footage with clear naming conventions — same day
- Upload to the shared drive, organized by date, location, and content type
- Flag standout moments worth telling a story around

Who You Are
- You shoot documentary / run-and-gun — rapid, quiet, observant
- You read a room and capture moments without changing them
- You can follow someone through a full day and come back with footage that tells a story
- You're organized — footage doesn't sit on a card
- You're comfortable working solo, at ease in real environments (occupied homes, job sites), and respectful of the people in them

Equipment
- Good Stewards provides the equipment required
- Reliable transportation (own vehicle) and a valid driver's license

Nice to Have
- Editing in Premiere, Final Cut, or DaVinci Resolve
- Drone certification / aerial capability (useful for property work)
- Gimbal / stabilizer experience
- Portfolio with documentary, behind-the-scenes, or founder-follow content

Logistics
- Type: Full-Time OR Contract / freelance
- Location: Hamilton, ON — must be able to travel to shoot locations
- Rate: $20-35 / hr

Pay: $20.00-$30.00 per hour
