We're supporting our client, Denea Group Inc., in their search for an Intermediate Electrical Engineer to join their growing team!
Intermediate Electrical
Engineer
Reports to: Senior Electrical Engineer Denea is an engineering company serving the food manufacturing sector. We provide project engineering and management services to leading multinational food companies, with a focus on delivering practical, high-quality solutions that meet the needs of our clients. The company builds on more than 50 years of combined experience in engineering and construction.

Denea has adopted a hybrid work model, with associates expected to work from the office a minimum of three days per week, with flexibility to work remotely on other days. Reporting to the Senior Electrical Engineer, this chance offers mentorship in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial setting. On-site fieldwork will be required on an as-needed basis.
Project
Engineering and Design Support
Support Project Engineers with major project initiatives, including identifying equipment capabilities, utility requirements, and infrastructure needs.
Assist with the design of Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs) and Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs;).
Prepare and update electrical system designs using AutoCAD.
Assist with the design of lighting, power, fire alarm, security,
single-line diagrams, and network diagrams.
Prepare design calculations, including voltage drop, lighting levels, cable tray fill, and heat tracing.
Coordinate drawing packages for issue and prepare electronic issue folders.
Technical
Standards and Documentation
Execute work in accordance with accepted engineering guidelines, industry standards, government regulations, and applicable codes, including NEC, NFPA, IEEE, IEC, CSA, and other relevant standards.
Generate, review, and take responsibility for contract documents and specifications, particularly as they relate to process electrical requirements.
Prepare bid documents for electrical and controls panel design and installation.
Prepare technical evaluations of equipment supplier proposals and procurement packages.
Write work plans, technical reports, and project documentation in a clear, concise, and technically accurate manner.
Project
Coordination and Collaboration
Work closely with architectural and mechanical disciplines to optimize piping, conduit, cable tray, and cable routing.
Liaise with client process engineers on design issues and incorporate client requirements in a cost-effective and low-risk manner.
Work effectively with Project Engineers, designers, discipline leads, managers, contractors, vendors, and third-party engineering partners.
Direct internal resources and third-party engineering partners as required to support project deliverables. Construction, Commissioning, and Start-Up Support
Conduct acceptance testing and support equipment commissioning.
Manage contractors and equipment vendors to ensure compliance with project specifications, safety regulations, applicable codes, and client requirements.
Support site start-up teams by troubleshooting and resolving issues with vendor equipment technicians during installation and start-up.
Assist with the development of engineering check-out, equipment acceptance testing, start-up, and validation documents.
Self-manage workload and priorities to achieve project deliverables.
Demonstrate strong technical judgment, attention to detail, and the ability to work in a fast-paced, client-facing project environment. Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
4–7 years of experience with electrical systems, including process equipment and power distribution.
Experience designing lighting, fire alarm, and low-voltage systems for building spaces, including lighting calculations and coordination of fixture placement with trades.
Knowledge of CFIA, FDA, and clean design requirements for food equipment is considered an asset.
Ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with multiple departments, disciplines, and senior-level stakeholders.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to prepare high-quality communications, reports, proposals, and technical documentation.
Valid passport required, as travel may be required to support clients across North America.

Applications and Technical Knowledge
