Framing Carpenter (Multiple Positions) - Commercial Multi-Family Construction

Lawford Construction is a fast-growing, Winnipeg-based commercial builder specializing in large-scale, multi-story wood-frame multi-family projects. We're hiring several experienced Framing Carpenters to join our crews and help deliver quality-built apartment and condo projects from foundation to lock-up.

Our carpenters work across all aspects of framing, but our focus and specialty is the big stuff - multi-story commercial wood structures. This is steady, year-round work with real opportunity for career advancement as we grow.

Responsibilities

- Perform all aspects of framing - walls, floors, roofs, stairs, and rough carpentry - with an emphasis on large-scale, multi-story commercial wood structures
- Install pre-fabricated wall panels
- Read and interpret structural drawings, shop drawings, and specs for multi-story wood-frame buildings
- Frame load-bearing and non-load-bearing walls, floor systems, roof systems, and stairs to plan and code
- Install sheathing, blocking, strapping, and other structural components
- Build and maintain fire-rated and sound-rated wall/floor assemblies typical of multi-family construction
- Set and maintain accurate layout and level lines across multiple floors
- Coordinate with the site foreman and other trades (electrical, plumbing, mechanical) on rough-in sequencing
- Operate framing tools and equipment safely (nail guns, saws, laser levels, etc.)




- Keep the work area organized and support overall job-site housekeeping and material handling
- Follow all site safety procedures and WCB/OH&S; requirements at all times

Qualifications
- 3+ years of framing experience, ideally on multi-story wood-frame commercial or multi-family projects
- Red Seal Carpenter certification (Journeyperson or Apprentice) preferred, or equivalent hands-on experience
- Working knowledge of the National Building Code and Manitoba Building Code as it applies to wood-frame assemblies
- Experience with fire separations, shaft walls, and corridor framing an asset
- Strong blueprint- and layout-reading skills
- Comfortable working at heights and on scaffolding or swing stages
- Own set of hand and power tools
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation to job sites
- Safety-minded, reliable, and able to work well as part of a crew
