The Industrial Products

Division develops sealing, bonding and protection solutions for the railway, automotive, truck, industrial body and other OEM markets, windshield replacement, shipbuilding, appliances and equipment, fenestration, etc. Sika Canada has regional offices and industrial sites in Quebec, Ontario, Alberta and British Columbia and employs over 450 people in Canada. Sika Canada’s manufacturing plant in Dowling, ON is hiring a General Labourer to join our small, cohesive team!

In this role, the General Labourer would be exposed to a number of different responsibilities throughout the plant, from production and palletizing of Sika's cementitious products. The individual will assist mainly with the cementitious-based powder division, but as we are a very busy but a small team, they will have the prospect to work with other products as needed.

The General Labourer will be:

Bagging of cement-based product according to production and quality standards

Manual stacking of product on pallet/production lines

Safe operation of forklift for purposes of storing and shipping material

Loading trucks and completing required paperwork Work safely at all times, adhering to all company safety policies (PPE, lock-out, confined space, safe lifting practices, etc.)

Report any unsafe working conditions, all safety accidents, incidents, and near misses immediately to management





General cleanliness of workstation/plant housekeeping to applicable standards

Qualifications

We are looking for: EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

High School Diploma or GED.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

1 to 3 years of experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably working with construction materials

Mandatory respiratory fit test

Welding experience an asset

Hydraulic experience an asset

Considerable amount of physical effort required

Forklift certification or experience is required

Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal

Ability to problem solve and recognize errors or concerns in Sika’s products or procedures.

WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Environment: Work performed both indoors and outdoors - adaptation required to fluctuations in temperature and weather conditions. Dusty and dirty environment. Uniform provided

Hearing protection provided and may be required in certain areas due to loud environment.

handling of various chemicals (i.e. liquid admixtures), proper respirator fit and wear required at times and in certain areas

Substantial repetitive physical effort required

Standing and walking required for long periods of time





Safely working with or around moving machinery/equipment

Overtime may be required
