Role: Java Backend Developer

Location: Toronto(Hybrid) Responsibilities:

Design, develop, and maintain Java-based backend applications and microservices.

Build scalable RESTful APIs aligned with OpenAPI specifications.

Write clean, reusable, and maintainable code following industry best practices.

Refactor legacy applications to improve scalability, maintainability, and performance.

Design highly scalable, resilient, and fault-tolerant backend systems.

Participate in architecture discussions and contribute to enterprise backend solutions.

Implement modular and cloud-native application designs.

Develop and deploy applications on AWS, Azure, or OpenShift.

Containerize applications using Docker and orchestrate workloads with Kubernetes.

Ensure application scalability, availability, and resilience.

Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions.

Automate build, testing, deployment, and release processes.

Continuously improve deployment efficiency through DevOps best practices.

Develop unit, integration, and functional tests.

Participate in peer code reviews.

Ensure applications meet performance, security, and compliance standards.

Utilize GitHub Copilot and other Generative AI tools to enhance development productivity.

Leverage AI-driven automation to improve code quality and accelerate delivery.





Monitor production environments using Splunk and Dynatrace.

Troubleshoot production issues and participate in on-call support when required.

Work closely with Product Owners, Architects, QA, and cross-functional engineering teams.

Participate in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, stand-ups, retrospectives, and reviews.

Translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions.

Maintain technical documentation for APIs and backend services.

Mentor junior developers and promote engineering best practices.

Required Skills: 10+ years of software development experience.

Strong expertise in Java, Spring Boot, REST APIs, and Microservices.

Experience with GitHub Actions, Docker, and Kubernetes.

Hands-on experience with AWS, Azure, or OpenShift.

Experience using Generative AI tools such as GitHub Copilot.

Strong understanding of software design principles and cloud-native architectures.

Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments. Positive to Have
