Are you a senior compensation skilled with deep expertise in job evaluation? Do you enjoy bringing structure, consistency, and governance to how organizations evaluate and classify roles?
We're looking for a Job Evaluation &
Compensation Specialist to play a key role in strengthening job evaluation practices and modernizing compensation governance within a large, complex organization. This is a newly created position where you'll have the opportunity to influence frameworks, improve processes, and help shape the future of job evaluation and compensation.
This is a hybrid position located in Edmonton.
What You'll Be Doing
Lead Job Evaluation
- Lead complex job evaluations using a structured methodology, with Korn Ferry/Hay experience considered a strong asset.
- Review new and existing roles to ensure accurate classification, consistency, and internal equity.
- Assess organizational changes and evaluate impacts across job architecture.
- Develop clear, well-supported evaluation documentation and recommendations.
Strengthen Compensation Governance
- Support the ongoing development and maintenance of compensation frameworks, salary structures, and job architecture.
- Help establish policies, procedures, and governance that promote fairness, consistency, and transparency.
- Contribute to the implementation of new compensation frameworks and continuous improvement initiatives.
Provide Strategic Advice
- Partner with HR and business leaders to provide guidance on job design, classification, and compensation.
- Present recommendations supported by sound analysis and best practices.
- Support organizational change while building trust and credibility with stakeholders.
Drive Continuous Improvement
- Review existing processes and identify opportunities to modernize and improve job evaluation practices.
- Research emerging trends and best practices in compensation and job evaluation.
- Develop tools, documentation, and resources to support consistent application across the organization.
What You'll Bring
- Degree or diploma in Human Resources, Business, or a related field.
- 5 years of progressive experience in compensation and job evaluation.
- Strong knowledge of job evaluation methodologies, with Korn Ferry/Hay experience highly preferred.
- Experience developing or improving compensation frameworks, governance, policies, or job architecture.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.
- Experience working in large, complex or unionized organizations is considered an asset.
- Experience with Workday or other HRIS platforms is an asset.
- CCP, CPHR, or other relevant professional designations are considered an asset.
