We are a boutique cosmetics contract manufacturing company based in Richmond Hill, ON, specializing in skincare, beauty, and personal care products. We provide turnkey solutions to brands of all sizes, combining innovation, flexibility, and quality. As we continue to grow, we’re seeking a organized and detail-oriented Junior R&D; Chemist to join our R&D; team.

Job Summary The R&D; Chemist is responsible for developing, testing, and optimizing formulations for cosmetic and personal care products. This role involves conducting laboratory research, supporting scale-ups to production, ensuring product safety and compliance, and maintaining thorough documentation in alignment with internal quality standards and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Batch Testing & Scale-Up:

- Prepare lab-scale batches and assist in scaling formulations to production volumes.
- Evaluate and adjust product attributes such as color, texture, and viscosity to meet standard samples.
- Conduct stability, compatibility, and performance testing as required.
- Sample Matching & Formulation Optimization:
- Analyze ingredient profiles and match formulations to client-provided reference samples.
- Perform iterative formulation adjustments to achieve target specifications.

Production Support:
- Collaborate with production teams to ensure smooth transition from lab to full-scale manufacturing.




- Monitor batch consistency and troubleshoot any formulation issues during production.

Product Safety & Regulatory Compliance:
- Ensure all formulations meet safety standards and are free from restricted or harmful substances.
- Conduct risk assessments and support toxicological reviews where applicable.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of global cosmetic regulations and ingredient restrictions.

Documentation & Regulatory Support:
- Prepare and maintain regulatory documentation, including INCI lists, Safety Data Sheets (SDS), and product specifications.
- Organize and manage formulation support documents, categorized by raw material function and usage.

Quality & Project Management:
- Ensure all formulations meet internal quality standards and client expectations.
- Adhere to project timelines, deliverables, and deadlines with precision and accountability.

Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in chemistry, Cosmetic Science, Chemical Engineering, or related field.
- Proven experience in cosmetic or personal care product formulation and R&D.;
- Solid understanding of ingredient functionality, formulation techniques, and product stability.
- Knowledge of cosmetic regulations, safety standards, and quality control practices.
- Excellent attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and ability to work collaboratively.

Pay: $45,000.00-$60,000.00 per year
