Job Overview

Athleticare Kinesiologist's works under the direction and supervision of licensed Physical Therapists to help deliver high-quality rehabilitation programming. This role involves direct patient interaction, delegated treatment activities, administrative tasks, and collaboration with LPNs, orthopedic technologists, and x-ray technologists to ensure efficient patient flow throughout the clinic.

Duties and Responsibilities

Clinical Support

- Assist Physical Therapists in carrying out established treatment plans, including therapeutic exercises, balance and mobility training, functional activities, and home exercise reinforcement.
- Monitor patients during therapy activities, reporting progress, tolerance, or concerns to supervising therapists.
- Set up, adjust, and clean equipment prior to and following treatment sessions.
- Provide patient education regarding exercise performance, mobility safety, and clinic procedures (within delegated scope).
- Support PTs in preparing patients for assessments, bracing, taping, gait training, and post-operative rehabilitation tasks.

Multidisciplinary Collaboration

- Coordinate with LPNs, orthopedic technologists, and x-ray technologists to support smooth transitions between treatment, imaging, and clinical areas.
- Participate in team huddles, patient flow coordination, and communication updates.
- Report safety concerns, patient changes, or treatment issues promptly to the appropriate clinician.

Patient Interaction & Customer Service

- Greet, guide, and support patients throughout their visit, ensuring comfort and safety.
- Explain clinic processes, follow-up instructions, and exercise reminders as directed.
- Assist with patient transfers, mobility support, and safe use of assistive devices.

Documentation & Administration





- Chart delegated interventions and patient observations according to clinic policy and Alberta standards.
- Assist with appointment coordination, follow-up reminders, and general administrative flow.
- Maintain supply levels, prepare treatment spaces, and support clinic organization.

Equipment & Clinic Operations

- Prepare therapy tools, modalities (heat/ice, TENS, etc.), and exercise equipment according to therapist instructions.
- Ensure cleanliness and adherence to infection control standards.
- Support orthopaedic technologists in non-clinical preparation tasks such as room setup and stocking materials.

Professional Conduct

- Practice within the delegated scope outlined by Physiotherapy Alberta standards of practice.
- Maintain confidentiality in accordance with FOIP/HIA legislation.
- Engage in ongoing learning, training, and skill development.
- Demonstrate professionalism, teamwork, and patient-centered care at all times.

Accountabilities Kinesiologist staff will report and be accountable to the Associate Allied Healthcare Services Clinic Manager for supervision of tasks, direction of day-to-day tasks, and any and all scheduling.

Qualifications

- Earn a 4-year undergraduate degree in Kinesiology, Physical Education, or Human Kinetics.
- Experience working in a physical therapy, orthopedic, or rehabilitation setting is an asset.




- Current CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary environment.
- Physically able to assist patients with mobility, transfers, and equipment handling

Terms of Work ZerOne believes in fair and competitive compensation rates for all its employees:

Open Positions

- Hourly pay rates starts at $18/hour, based on experience and fit.
- ZerOne Athleticare is looking to fill Part-time needs, which would included shifts every weekday between 7am and 7pm, and Saturdays as required.
- Work will be located on-site at West Edmonton Mall Phase 1 on the 2nd floor, in the ZerOne Athleticare Clinic.

Pay: From $18.00 per hour
